Introduction
In this week’s Marriage Matters, Andy B and Jo challenge us to consider how our marriages measure up to God’s standard. Andy and Jo remind us that marriage is God’s design, noting that God created one man and one woman and said they should go forth and multiply and that the two become one flesh which is spelt out in Genesis.

Andy and Jo also point out that Jesus talks about being the Bride Groom and the Church being the bride, using the analogy of marriage showing the importance of marriage and our witness through our marriages.

Andy B highlights the impact of a healthy Christian marriage and Jo agrees and shares that she was led to Christ by a Godly couple who were loving, gentle and kind and so together.

Andy B reads 1 Corinthians 13 showing us that tis is the framework for our marriages – Love – no clanging gongs or plumber’s tools thrown down here, please!

JoJo and Pete read as a prayer Psalm 3 which was written by David who was running from his son, Absalom at the time. This Psalm is a prayer for us now to ask for God’s help in protecting us in our lives today.

In this week’s GoDeeper Steven relates queuing, waiting for the bus, and being on hold to those times or seasons of waiting in life.

He goes on to emphasise the importance of God’s timing compared to our own timing, because ultimately, God sees the bigger picture.

Sometimes we can feel as though we are waiting for ages for something that we have prayed for, but we must trust God. Other times we can feel like we are not ready for something, like a calling, but again we must trust God.

Steven concludes that ultimately, we need to trust in God and in His timing.

For the final segment, Nathan questions Steven about points from his GoDeeper:

1. How long do we have to wait before we can justify being impatient?
2. That Scripture verse in Isaiah says we will soar like eagles. I’m not overly keen on heights. I shan’t really have to fly at really high altitudes, shall I?
3. It sounds as though achieving the right timing in our obedience to God is quite a tricky business. How are we supposed to get our timing right?
4. What time is it?

In this week’s GoDeeper Steven kicks off by pointing out that just as we need to work on all the different aspects of fitness, we also need to work on all the different aspects of the Christian faith, not just the ones that look good in church.

One of this week’s passages of Scripture from 1 Corinthians talks about spiritual giftings. Steven explains that there is a difference between skills and giftings with a simple example.

The fruit of the Spirit gets a mention as Steven highlights the fact that you can’t have one of the nine parts of the fruit of the Spirit without the other eight. 

He challenges us to practice all the different Christian disciplines such as reading the Bible, praying, giving, and listening to God, not just the ones we find easier or that look good.

For the final segment, Nathan asks Steven some difficult questions about his GoDeeper:

1.   How are you? (Can he avoid saying “I’m fine”?)

2.   Which areas of our lives do look good in church?

3.   It talked about spiritual gifts in one of the Scriptures you read. Which one do you think is the most important?

4.   Balance seems to be the key word of your talk. Would you agree?

Introduction

Andy B and Jo are back for more Marriage Matters. They said they would be back and here they are - back with more matters about marriage that matter because marriage matters, as Andy B so succinctly manages to say each week (or not)!

As usual Andy and Jo share their thoughts and personal experiences as they consider why Marriage is the way to go and seek to dispel the myths about marriage that make you think of marriage in a negative way. Andy B and Jo do their best to extol the virtues of marriage which wasn’t as difficult as it sounds as the research seems to back them up!

Andy and Jo have chosen three short verses from scripture to aid us in discovering what the bible says about marriage:

• Genesis 2:24
• Ephesians 5:25 
• Proverbs 31:10

Tips and Resources

• Read Song of Songs in the bible – a celebration of marriage
• Read about the marriages in the bible, for example Abraham and Sarah or Joseph and Mary and learn from them.
• Take matters in marriage to God in prayer not into your hands like Abraham and Sarah did
• Be flexible, marriage like life does not always go the way you want.

The Take Away

Jo sees the importance of marriage and how it has been designed by God and is good. Jo also sees the benefits of staying with the same partner in marriage, getting to know each other, learning about each other, and finding comfort, safety and peace in this.

Andy reflects how God made marriage for a reason, and the marriage He designed in Genesis, as He was creating the world – and people! - was REALLY good, and really good for society as a whole.

Steven and Nathan were back with a new season of Endurance – your weekly spiritual workout – now with a difference. Steven is the one to take us deeper and with Nathan’s helpful questioning, they both look at why we say “I’m Fine” when we are not, encouraging us to be honest with others, ourselves, and God.

Family Prayer Time - Psalm 1 (S02E001)

And Peter and JoJo are back with more Family Prayer Time, this time praying through the psalms and starting with Psalm 1 which tells us about what happens to the Wicked and the benefits of being righteous! As Jo says prayer is communicating with God which requires talking and listening and if you think about when we read the bible we are listening to God – to God’s word.
