  • Family Focus Radio show on Konnect Radio

In lieu of our usual, 6pm, Andy B 2 Minute Video, we thought we thought we'd share this video with you instead. We think this is a good substitute for today!

This is a video that will be going out (and is already going out) through Konnect Radio and their own socials: Jo and I are going to be doing a brand new show for them, on Sundays from 4pm (UK time), starting Sunday 4th September. It's called Family Focus, and we'll be, we'll, focusing on all things family!

We're super excited to get stuck into this new project with Konnect Radio, and we hope you'll join us and listen along - and get involved! Our show is for everyone, after all, whether you're aged 8, 88 or 888 (probably not too many people listening who will have quite reached that last age).

We'll have some great features including Bible Stories with Dave the Dog, The Doggy Cushion and so much more!

If you want to listen along you can listen via your smart speaker, via the Konnect Radio Website, or by downloading the Konnect Radio app from either google or apple.

If you ever miss any of the shows that go out, you can always listen again via the Catch Up page on their website.

For more about Konnect Radio (which we've been enjoying since they began some 16 months ago) visit their website - https://www.konnectradio.com/

We'll be LIVE on Konnect Radio - on Wednesday 31st August, on Gareth Cottrell's Breakfast Show - to talk about the new show and we'd love you to join in if you can.

  • S05E002, Keyboards, Errors and Change, Andy B 2 Minute Video

    Send us Fan Mail

For my birthday, recently, my family bought me a new keyboard for our ministry computer. It’s an amazing thing because it is ergonomic. While the layout of the keys may be what you’d expect, the layout of the whole of the keyboard certainly is not. And, as someone who has done an awful lot of typing, this is no easy switch!!

I remember doing a computer course on how to use a mouse. They were brand new and I had never before seen such an odd looking thing before. I thought it was a stupid idea. Well, I was fairly young!

To be fair, I don’t use a mouse now - if I can avoid it - and have a trackball mouse instead. This stays put and your thumb moves around it to move the cursor on the screen – it has saved much wrist strain because it is also ergonomic and flows with the natural position of your hand and arm, rather than forcing an odd kink to occur so you can use it.

With change comes the need to learn something new too. If you swap something ‘like for like’, then you’re golden. But, even swapping from my laptop to a spare PC we have - with a standard keyboard - can be a serious challenge as different buttons are in slightly different locations. And, well, I can type pretty fast. With greater speed comes greater errors when it goes wor, wg, wrg, wrong…

In our walk with God we need to embrace change too. But, with that change, we need to ensure that we don’t fear the mistakes that often accompany such change. Mistakes are part of life, just as much as the successes.

However, once you decide to follow Jesus you have, by default, committed yourself to a lifelong journey of change. You simply can’t become a Christian, and then just wait for heaven. It simply doesn’t work that way. Once you start following Jesus, and seeking to become more like Him, you realise - as you become more like Him - just how much you need to become like Him, and so often, and how much more you desire to become more like Jesus and so on.

The life of a Christian is to always embrace change – that is the first step towards Jesus, and it is every step thereafter. But, what a journey it is because the more you change, the more at peace you become with the life you are living, because that life you are living becomes ever more Jesus centred and Jesus filled.

    Just a thought…

  • S05E001, Back to Business, Andy B 2 Minute Video

    Send us Fan Mail

I’m back! I hope you’ve missed these short daily reflections on life. I’ve certainly missed making them!

I took a pause because I’d been doing them, without any proper break, for nearly two years and I wanted to pause long enough to have a rest so I could come back refreshed. But, only to do so if I felt God was wanting me to continue with them, which I believe He does.

So here we are! And, while my short videos may have taken a pause, the rest of the BerryBunch Ministry carried on and we have some AMAZING things happening. Some of which I still can’t yet talk about publicly. They’re super exciting and I can wait to share what is coming up with you in the fullness of time.

Anyway, let’s get Back to Business! (did you see what I did there?!?)

In life it’s super easy to see our failures and successes and directly apply them to our ability to obey God successfully, or not.

We think, logically, that if things are going well then we must be getting things right. And, conversely, that if things are going ill, we must be getting things wrong.

But I can positively affirm that the two do not need to tie in with each other when it comes to matters of faith.

We recently purchased a replacement computer for the old one we’ve been battling with for two years – ever since we started editing videos. Video editing – the very heart of all we do – is incredibly computer intensive, so an old computer simply becomes an increasing liability. Our computer isn’t what I’d call old. More like a relic from the dark ages- you know, before we discovered coal power!

Anyway, the one we bought was a refurbished model, and the very best we could afford. Which was really not much! But we had peace, so went ahead. When it arrived, it was faulty and, sadly, the company we bought it from were beyond rubbish at accepting it back and giving us our money back. [In the UK you had 14 days to return anything, for any reason, if you’ve bought it remotely. In the end I had to force a refund through the company who we used to help us buy the computer.]

That refurbished computer was the very best we could do. But, it was not the very best that God could do. Because, and I do wonder whether this is tied into the issues we had with the faulty computer we first bought, somebody bought us a brand new computer. And a highly specced. one at that – one designed, specifically, to edit videos.

It’s beyond amazing and is saving us loads of stress and time.

So, if you’re doing something you had peace about doing, and it goes catastrophically wrong, be slow to start blaming yourself for having made a mess of the whole thing. It may well be that God allowed that to happen to help remind you how much you need to rely upon Him, and not your own understanding. It may well be that that mistake you now see before you, is really just part of God’s plan to help you become more like Jesus – FOR HIS KINGDOM.

    Just a thought…

  • S05E006, A Life More Ordinary, Endurance

On this episode, we are looking at how we should view the ordinary and the extraordinary.

Endurance is your weekly spiritual workout, whether you think of yourself as a beginner, an intermediate, or advanced!

    #GoDeeper

Steven begins this week’s GoDeeper by getting us to think of the extraordinary feats demonstrated during the 22 Commonwealth Games, compared to the ordinary feats that ordinary people like us achieve.

He then unpacks the passage of Scripture found in Luke 18:10-14, pointing out the differences between the two people praying in that passage. One was rather ordinary and humble, whilst the other thought himself extraordinary and was arrogant.

Steven reminds us that riches and fame, which are not ordinary, are not all that healthy for people.

He concludes that we shouldn’t strive to be extraordinary but should embrace the ordinary and mundane aspects of life.

    GoDo

For the final segment, Nathan asks Steven some questions about his GoDeeper:

    1.   It seems as though “ordinary” and “humble” go hand in hand. Would you agree?

    2.   From what you said, I would gather that ordinary life and ordinary activities are quite healthy. Does that sound correct?

    3.   I suppose we need to be content whether we are led to live an ordinary life or an extraordinary life. Would you say that’s right?

    4.   Would you say you live an ordinary life or an extraordinary life?

Watch this week’s episode to find out Steven’s answers to these questions.

  • S02E005, Day to Day, Marriage Matters

    Introduction

This week’s Marriage Matters, you’ll be pleased to hear, is quite simple and straight forward and although Andy B and Jo tackle what might be the mundane and ordinary things of married life, this episode is not boring!

To give you a taster, so you can believe it’s true, these are some of the subjects covered: cleaning your teeth, putting the bin out, cooking meals and wait for it – cleaning the dishes! And if that was not exciting enough Jo mentions smelling roses and coffee and Andy gives a list of meals he eats!

    Ecclesiastes 3 – A time for everything

    Tips and Resources
    • Consider perspective! Rather than seeing the faults of your spouse, see the good they do and bring into your marriage, and to your friendship.
    • Don’t forget to be in the moments. It’s easy to be busy doing stuff, and ticking things from a To Do list. But don’t forget to enjoy the moments too because all those moments make up a marriage.
    The Take Away

    Jo – Marriage isn’t boring!

Andy – Marriage is best in partnership – so, what is your Take Away from today’s episode?

  • S05E005, Timing is Everything, Endurance

On this episode, we talk about how to have timing in our spiritual walks.

Endurance is your weekly spiritual workout, whether you think of yourself as a beginner, an intermediate, or advanced!

    #GoDeeper

In this week’s GoDeeper Steven relates queuing, waiting for the bus, and being on hold to those times or seasons of waiting in life.

He goes on to emphasise the importance of God’s timing compared to our own timing, because ultimately, God sees the bigger picture.

Sometimes we can feel as though we are waiting for ages for something that we have prayed for, but we must trust God. Other times we can feel like we are not ready for something, like a calling, but again we must trust God.

Steven concludes that ultimately, we need to trust in God and in His timing.

    GoDo

For the final segment, Nathan questions Steven about points from his GoDeeper:

    1.   How long do we have to wait before we can justify being impatient?

    2.   That Scripture verse in Isaiah says we will soar like eagles. I’m not overly keen on heights. I shan’t really have to fly at really high altitudes, shall I?

    3.   It sounds as though achieving the right timing in our obedience to God is quite a tricky business. How are we supposed to get our timing right?

    4.   What time is it?

Watch this week’s episode to find out Steven’s answers to these questions.
