  • S03E025, Identical but Different, Andy B 2 Minute Video

    Send us Fan Mail

We all know the game spot the difference. Sometimes those differences can be so subtle, they can appear almost identical.

But look long enough, and you’ll start to see the difference. The longer you look at the two images, the more they can look the same. But if we compare to just one of them, those differences start to stand out!

It’s like with spotting counterfeit money – we check what the genuine stuff looks like, and the fake stuff starts to stand out.

And it’s like this in life, especially in churches, where spotting the ‘nearly right’ can give you a headache!

Thankfully, God has given us the Holy Spirit, and His Word – the Bible – as the source that never changes.

If we want to be able to know when what hearing someone teach of preach is really right, we need to listen to the Holy Spirit inside us, and know our scripture.

And if, like me, you struggle like me to memorise scripture, be at peace and know that if the Holy Spirit can warn a 5 year old – who had only been a Christian for a little over a year, and who could barely read – to spot false teaching, the Holy Spirit will just as easily help you and me spot it too, if we choose to listen to His voice.

  • Andy B Teaching, Faith and Prayer, Volume 1, Part 2 of 3, What is Prayer?

    Send us Fan Mail

This is Part 2, of a 3-part Teaching series on Prayer and Faith.

Starting out the real basics of Prayer, Andy B takes a good look at what Prayer is. He also looks at when we should pray, how we should pray.

He also answers the question of what we can pray!

Returning to the most simplest forms of prayer – conversation – Andy B seeks to show us how prayer is a gift from God, that God desires us to use, because God uses our words to change situations around the world.

Andy B also reminds us that this doesn’t mean we get what we want – but that when we’re walking God, we’ll have everything we need, to do everything God is asking us to do.

  • S03E024, Habits, Trusting and Change, Andy B 2 Minute Video

    Send us Fan Mail

Andy B starts a 6 part series of Andy B 2 Minute Videos, all because he replaced a bike part, and God revealed many ways in which this part can teach all of us about life!

Andy B’s mountain bike came second hand, and happens to have had the wrong part fitted.

For 6 years Andy B struggled with issues, before finally replacing this one little part.

It’s an important part for sure, because it’s the bit that selects the gear on the back wheel of a bike!

But how often do we get stuck doing something we know we shouldn’t, more out of habit than any sort of addiction?

  • Andy B Teaching, Faith and Prayer, Volume 1, Part 1 of 3, What is Faith?

    Send us Fan Mail

This is Part 1, of a 3-part Teaching series on Prayer and Faith.

With discussion around Fish and Chips, Sweet and Sour Sauce and Gloves hands, Andy B does his usual and takes ordinary, every day objects and situations, and helps us dig deeper into the basics of how Faith and Prayer work together.

With a very strong reminder, and warning – from the book of James – about why we need both Faith and Prayer, Andy B encourages us to all to get on our knees more, to learn to know Jesus better.

And, just like Fish and Chips or Sweet and Sour Sauce, Faith and Prayer complement each other perfectly.

Faith and Prayer isn’t something we can choose to have, or not. James makes that very clear. But when we embrace the need to use both, with each other, we’ll get closer to God.

Faith and Prayer requires some action from us. We simply cannot have one without the other, or use either – or both – without them leading to action.

And those actions will always leave us pushing outside our comfort zones.

But what a reward we have in heaven. And what a reason to give God all we have and to be used, by Him, to extend His kingdom here on earth.

  • S03E023, Roundabouts, Judging and Waiting, Andy B 2 minute Video

    Send us Fan Mail

Returning home after a mountain bike ride, Andy B approached a roundabout. We love these in the UK (it seems). Simply put, you come to a junction, with a circle in the middle. You give way to the right, and proceed carefully.

But they’re super simple to use! Indicate on your approach, and as long as nothing comes from your right, you have right of way (and of course, the British drive on the correct side of the road – the left – hence giving way to the right!).

Anyway, having indicated which way he intended to go, Andy B reached the roundabout and a motorbike, coming the other way, stopped – as it should, because Andy B had right of way.

So he carried on, turning right. At which point the biker screamed various unpleasant words we won’t repeat here, as Andy carried on his journey.

But here’s the thing, and the important lesson.

The biker was right to stop, as Andy had been clearly indicating on his approach to the roundabout. But Andy B didn’t indicate as he was going around the roundabout due to some serious potholes for all to see. Plus, the motorbike had already stopped and Andy B had eye contact with the rider!

As a trucker and biker, Andy B is especially careful on the road, and knows the rule of the road better than most – having driven professionally for well over a decade.

And the biker, who was shouting, was actually committing a plethora of crimes in doing so. He was breaching the peace with his shouted profanities; acting in an aggressive and threatening manner with a vehicle; he had his helmet propped open (another offence).

And that last one is key! Because when you prop your helmet open, you have limited vision. VERY limited vision, which is one reason why it is an offence to ride like that on a public road (ie the front part of the helmet, not just the see through plastic part we call a visor in the UK).

Due to the offence he was committing, he actually couldn’t see Andy B properly.

Which is a lesson for us all isn’t it? We can be so quick to make judgements of people, but sometimes we do so even though we know we don’t have all the facts.

So, next time you’re about to start proclaiming your judgements against someone in public, make sure you have all the facts, and don’t break the law whilst pointing the finger at someone!

And what does the bible say about all this?

Well it reminds us that before we take the speck out of our brother’s eye, we should take the plank out of our own. And perhaps, ensure we can see what we’re judging…

  • S03E022, Struggles, Strength and Striving, Andy B 2 minute Video

    Send us Fan Mail

Life is full of ups and downs.

Some days we can fly along, and others it’s like were tasked with stirring treacle, with an oversized paddle, on a cold day! But sometimes, flying isn’t helpful. And sometimes that treacle simply needs stirring!

So how do know when we’re walking in our own strength, not God’s? And how do we know when something that seems easy, is actually what God is calling us to do?

    J. John is a great British preacher, who delivered a brilliant message about how the devil is always waiting with a taxi – when we want to walk away from God; when we choose to sin.

With that in mind, how does the Holy Spirit fit in with us working all of this out?

Heat can do funny things to us.

    But so can our memories!

How easily can we forget how good we may have been at something, because our failures always shout louder don’t they?

When we’re hot we need to drink more. But Andy B was struggling with the current heat wave until his wife – Jo – reminded him of what he used to be able to do in the heat!

Thank God for great friends who can stand behind us, and wives who can lovingly remind us of the

  • S03E020, Prayer, Reverence and Confidence, Andy B 2 Minute Video

    Send us Fan Mail

A wonderful friend of Andy B – Olly, from Nigeria – posted a really funny look at how Africans and Nigerians pray, against how the rest of the world prays.

As funny as it is, it also should make all Christians a little uncomfortable because doesn’t it wonderfully illustrate how we can come to God ourselves?

We come at God, reminding Him of His failings; how God has not done what we expected or told Him He should do; how He really needs to trust us ‘cos we’ve got this and just need Him to do His part.

While we should be familiar with God, we need to keep in perspective who He truly is.,

And we need to remember that He loves us, and that love doesn’t mean giving us what He want.

Just like any loving father, God wants what is best for us. And that is rarely what we think is best for us!

Modern Christianity has skewed how we see God and the devil. It has skewed God into some sort of best mate or pal. And we absolutely should see God as always approachable. But we should do so, seeing Him with the respect we’d have for an earthly father, than just a mate.

In the same way, we’ve seen modern Christianity skew our perspective on our enemy - the devil.; that we somehow have power over him, which we, of course do not. Any power that can be exercised over the devil, comes from the blood of Jesus, and the complete and final defeat that Jesus exe4rcised over the devil when He died and rose again three days later.

Any ‘power’ that we have, is not ours – but that of Jesus Christ.

So let’s approach God happily, and confidently, but also with reverence.

Go Deeper with Andy B, as he talks about how to be flexible.

He looks at the importance of being flexible physically, and how that relates to being flexible spiritually.

Andy B also touches on skyscrapers. Just as they must be not only strong, but flexible, otherwise they would simply break with earthquakes, so we must be flexible, and able to adapt to constantly shifting circumstances in life.
