In this episode, we dive into why so many game-to-anime adaptions often go wrong.  We rant and rave about FF7 Remake.  We have an impromptu new segment called:  "What Kyle got?"  where Kyle shares his latest random purchases.

This episode, Kyle and I go through a list of what was great and what was straight garbo this Winter 2020 anime. Not going to lie. A lot of anime was kinda disappointing. Excluding the legacy animes, like Haikyuu or Chihayafuru, Smile Down the Runway, and In/Spectre, were my favorites of this season. The Spring 2020 line up looks really lit.

Legacy animes include A Certain Scientific Railgun, Love in War, My Teenage Romance SNAFU, Fruit Baskets S2, Ascendance of a Bookworm, Food Wars, etc.

Some new anime that caught my eye are Hidden Things (Kakushigoto), Wave! Listen to me (Nami yo Kiitekure),  Appare-Ranman, Sing "Yesterday for me (Yesterday Wo Utatte), Gleipnir, and BNA.

Paru  Itagaki's series forces us to reexamine anime storytelling with a fresh pair of eyes. Beastars weaves murder, sexual awkwardness, and xenophobia themes into a show worth binging on Netflix. My co-host,  Kyle, breaks down some of the underlying themes explored in Beastars, and we rave about how the quality of 3D anime is on the rise. You can watch Beastars now on Netflix!

Shows covered this week:  Somali and the Forest Spirit (08-09), Toilet Bound Hanako-kun (08-09), Magia Record (09-10), In/Spectre (08-09), Smile Down The Runway (08-09), Chihayafuru (20-21), and A Certain Scientific Railgun T (07)

Smile Down The Runway is my feature of the week.  I believe it is this season's drama to watch.  It does a flawless job combining both Shounen and Shoujo aspects making the series accessible for different fans to enjoy.  If you like a story about fashion and the journey to the dream, I highly recommend this series.  You can watch Smile Down The Runway, Fridays at Funimation.
