Amazon MGM Studios has unveiled the trailer for The Sheep Detectives, a bizarre but charming comedic whodunit hitting theaters on May 8, 2026[11][12][13]. Based on Leonie Swann's novel Three Bags Full, the film stars Hugh Jackman as George, a kindly shepherd who reads murder mysteries to his flock every night[14][15]. When George is mysteriously found dead, the sheep—who secretly understand human language and have absorbed the tropes of detective fiction—leave their meadow to solve the murder themselves[14][15]. The film is directed by Kyle Balda and features a massive voice/live-action cast including Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, Molly Gordon, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, and Patrick Stewart
