Animation Hotline

Bruno Tondeur est un réalisateur, illustrateur et animateur belge, qui étudie à La Cambre. Son humour acide et son univers graphique grandement influencé par la bande-dessinée belge se retrouvent dans ses films. En 2014, "Deep space" était présenté au Festival international du court métrage de Lille où nous nous sommes rencontrés. Plus récemment, il a réalisé "Sous le cartilage des côtes" produit par Take Five et Autour de minuit. Lorsqu'il ne développe pas ses propres films, il collabore à de nombreux projets, colorés et pétillants, fabriqués au studio TABASSco dont il est l'un des fondateurs.

Flóra Anna Buda is an animation director from Hungary. She graduated at the famous MOME in Budapest. Through her films, she explores alternative world building and storytelling. She deals with dreams and science, including personal content in her stories, as we could see in the mezmerizing "Entropia". We met almost two years ago at the Open workshop in Denmark where she was developing the early stages of her upcoming short "27", now in production with MIYU.

Mathilde Parquet est une réalisatrice de courts métrages d'animation, spécialisée en 2D et volume. Elle étudie à l'Atelier de Sèvres, l'Institut Sainte Geneviève, l'EMCA et La Poudrière, et réalisera le film "Petit homme" pour sa fin d'études, qui sera programmé dans de grands festivals.
Elle a depuis réalisé le court métrage "Trona Pinnacles", qu'elle a notamment développé en résidence à CICLIC puis à l'Open workshop au Danemark. Ce film, produit par Girelle production, en co-production avec Novanima, nous emmène en road-trip dans les paysages grandioses du Grand Canyon. Mathilde nous plonge dans une histoire fortement inspirée de son vécu entre drame intime et fantastique, où la palette de couleurs reflètent tout un prisme d'émotions palpables et tacites.
Elle a récemment été lauréate du Festival Premiers plans d'Angers, et est également sélectionnée pour le prochain Festival national du film d'animation.

Chris Sullivan is an animator, filmmaker and performance artist based in Chicago. His work has been shown in festivals, theaters and museums worldwide. He produced in 2012 his first feature film "Consuming Spirits", awarded several times. He is also the creator of theater performances and a teacher at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. He is in the closing stages of his new feature "The Orbit of Minor Satellites", about an American/Soviet Space station, a psychiatrist, his teenage star patient and a giant Buffalo.

Cinéaste au croisement de l’animation, de l'art vidéo et de la photographie, la canadienne Moïa Jobin-Paré créé depuis 2015 des œuvres hybrides. Elle expérimente et mêle plusieurs pratiques telles que l’image en mouvement, le travail plastique, les outils numériques et le son. Son film expérimental " 4min15 au révélateur " nous transportait dans un univers abstrait et singulier, happés par l'animation de photographies argentiques grattées.

Sophie Koko is an illustrator and filmmaker living in England. She studied and graduated from the Royal College of Art where she created the short film "Half wet". From educational content to music videos, she directed various animations, with a unique visual style and an uncommon sense of humor. She is also part of F.A.T. Studio and was used to co-run the screening event Easy Ease for animation enthusiasts.

Agnès Patron réalise ses deux premiers films en peinture animée "La Valse du pendu" et "La Veuve caillou" lors de ses études à l'ENSAD. Elle travaille ensuite à l'animation du teaser du long-métrage de Florence Miailhe "La Traversée", sorti en salles à l'automne dernier. En 2015, elle co-réalise avec Cerise Lopez, le mystique "Chulyen, histoire de Corbeau", produit par Ikki films et de nombreuses fois récompensé. Elle crée enfin son court-métrage "L'Heure de l'ours", produit par Sacrebleu et sélectionné au 72ème Festival de Cannes. Lucrèce Andreae demandait de ses nouvelles dans son épisode du 7 janvier, et voici son message !

Sean Buckelew is an animation filmmaker living in California.
He studied in Chicago at the School of the Art Institute, and then at CalArts in Experimental Animation. Besides his filmmaker's activities, he is also a member of the online collective Late Night Work Club, the co-host of the Movie Buddies podcast, and one of the programmers at the GLAS Animation Festival. He directed the moving "Lovestreams", and lately the hilarious short "I'm not a robot".

L'artiste Nicolas Liguori a découvert l'animation à l'ESAAT et s'est plongé depuis dans la pratique de médiums variés tels que la peinture, le pastel, le crayon et le fusain, pour créer des œuvres en animation traditionnelle…On se souvient notamment Du "Vent dans les roseaux", coréalisé avec Arnaud Demuynck. Parallèlement, il enseigne l'animation et collabore à de nombreux films animés, dont "La Moufle" de Clémentine Robach, et ceux de Regina Pessoa. Il participe en 2015 à une résidence d’expérimentation sur l’écran d’épingles avec Michèle Lemieux, puis à la résidence de la Cinémathèque québécoise en 2017.

Alex Boya is a director and writer from Bulgaria, based in Canada. He studied animation and film at Concordia University. We met in 2014 in Montreal, when he was hosted by the NFB, involved in the program for young filmmakers called "HotHouse". He directed "Focus", a short film inspired by medical illustrations and using the techniques of etching and engraving. Then, in 2018 the short film "Turbine", also produced by the NFB.
Lately, he started the development of an ambitious hybrid project, called "The Mill", a creative world-building experiment, graphic novel and film.
