Anime Cvlt

The Promised Neverland Season 2 went from the most anticipated sequel in anime to a 5.24 on MyAnimeList in eleven episodes. This week on Anime Cvlt dig into how CloverWorks took a top-100 psychological thriller and produced one of the most infamous adaptation failures in modern anime.

Season 1 adapted the Grace Field escape almost beat for beat and landed at an 8.5+. Season 2 covered the Promised Forest arc, then went anime-original, skipped the fan-favorite Goldy Pond arc entirely (chapters 64 through 95, plus Yuugo and the demon Leuvis with it), cut the King of Paradise arc, rewrote the Imperial Capital arc, burned one of its eleven slots on a recap episode, and closed out the remaining ~140 chapters of Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's manga with a still-image slideshow montage in the finale.

The Promised Neverland Season 1 turned a peaceful orphanage into one of anime's most terrifying mysteries — and this week, Anime Cvlt is breaking it all down. Join your hosts Mathas, Dodger, and Indeimaus as they dive into Grace Field House, where Emma, Norman, and Ray uncover the horrifying truth waiting beyond the gates. The crew unpacks the show's masterful tension, that gut-punch opening reveal, the cat-and-mouse war with "Mom" Isabella, and whether CloverWorks' adaptation of Kaiu Shirai and Posuka Demizu's hit manga lives up to its reputation as one of the best psychological thriller anime of 2019.

Expect spoiler-heavy discussion, hot takes, and the usual chaos as the three debate the highs, the cliffhangers, and whether Season 1 sticks the landing.

Perfect for fans of horror anime, psychological thrillers, and over-analyzing great shows with friends.

This week on Anime Cvlt, Mike, Dodger and Indeimaus to dig into Gachiakuta the gritty new dark fantasy shonen from Studio Bones that became one of 2025's biggest breakout anime. Based on Kei Urana's manga (with graffiti art by Hideyoshi Andou), Gachiakuta follows Rudo, a slum kid from a floating town who's falsely accused of murder and exiled into the Pit, a hellish wasteland crawling with monstrous trash beasts. The crew breaks down the world-building, the unhinged graffiti-infused art style, the revenge plot, the Givers and their Vital Instruments, and whether Bones has another My Hero Academia-sized hit on their hands.

Expect spoilers, hot takes, and the usual tangents. Grab your trash and crawl back from the abyss with us.
