Anime Not Be For Everyone

This week we venture to a land where wild and dangerous beasts, that arise from the ancient and mysterious clow cards, roam free and bring about perilous danger to everyone around them. This very serious, very metal anime, puts multiple 4th grade students lives at risk when the monsters attack. One student will use her magic staff to capture these ancient beings and harness their energy for her own needs.

Sounds pretty gritty and intense, right? Wrong!

Join us to discuss season 1 of Cardcaptor: Sakura, where everything I mentioned above is true, except it has a very cutesy filter over the entire thing. That's right, Sailor Moon outfits and a god in the shape of a Beanie Baby.

Talking Points: Totally Non-depressing Animal Facts, Nazi Herpes, A Game So Bad That Zack Passes Out, MODMAN

Intro/Outro: Down with the King/Orbit by Good Kid

Enter the familiar world of Star Wars once again, with Star Wars: Visions. Comfortable, right? Wait... take a look around... Where are all the Jedi we know and love?! What part of the timeline are we in?! Why is that lightsaber shaped like an umbrella?! It doesn't really matter!

This week, we are joined by our editor and Star Wars aficionado, Stuart, to discuss season 1 of Star Wars: Visions. For this anime, a bunch of animation studios were given the rights to use droids, The Force, lightsabers and the iconic line "I've got a bad feeling about this". However, that's pretty much where the connections end, in a show where they throw Star Wars flavoured spaghetti at the wall and see what sticks.

Talking Points: Dark Vaper, 'Tis His Destiny, Duel of the Wildest Lightsabers, The Canontina

Intro and Outro: Down With The King and Orbit by Good Kid

Join us this week when we discuss The Seven Deadly Sins! No, not the terrifying Christian teachings. Think more like super-powered mercenaries and then crank that anime dial up to 11, baby!

Find out what happens when a princess tries to gather the colourful and childlike members of the Seven Deadly Sins in order to stop a demonic apocalypse. Oh, and don't forget to throw in a talking pig and a giant pig with a bar on its back, because... why not?

Talking Points: Ostrich Lovin', The Most Thrilling Version of Javelin Toss, Love Boy Island, The SpeakEasy

Welcome to high school, new kid! What's that? You're dead?! We are all dead?! Why do you have a sniper rifle?! Why is there an angel wielding an energy sword?! What is that music? It's sooooo distracting! Find out this week, when we discuss the anime, Angel Beats!

Enter the wild world of Angel Beats, the surprisingly upbeat story about childhood death. But don't worry, this show also throws in epic pranks, baseball games, weapons of mass destruction hidden in a cave filled with wacky traps, and of course... friendship!

Talking Points: Skrillex's Origin Story, "I'm Johnny Knoxville", The Junkman Trial, Highschool Forever

What's a friggan Spriggan? Join us this week to find out, when we discuss Spriggan season 1!

This anime combines the futuristic gadgets of 007 and the artifact hunting of Indiana Jones in a... super cool way, I guess? Meet wild and wacky characters with exciting abilities that pop up out of no where and disappear without a trace (even if you really want them to stay). Sorry about this episode, Spriggan fans!

Talking Points: Choose your own cold open, Jeep me you Creep, Horse but long, The Temple Boys

Intro/Outro Music: Down with the King/Orbit by Good Kid

We finally return to the second season of everyone's favourite anime! You know, the really cool anime that we covered about a year ago? No, not Attack on Titan, Dr. Stone, or Sword Art Online. Those would all make too much sense.

Join us for a wholly PG discussion about season 2 of Heaven's Lost Property. Rediscover Tomoki, the hormone-fueled boy who "owns" a couple of superpowered angel androids who have the capacity for world-wide destruction. Learn how perverseness can be outshined by rousing speeches and human love (Not really though).

Talking Points: Dogs selling houses, Whack-a-mole Virginity Power, Forgetafire or Forgetinator (we can't remember), What panty bicycles are made of
