Anime Pulse

Hey there, pardner. Us speakin’ in an a-ffected drawl must mean we gots a Western movie. It also a-happens to be an adaptation of a book. A bone-a-fide lit-er-a-chur turned talkie. That brings us to Appaloosa[2008]. Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen are wandering gunmen for hire and have been partners for awhile. They come into Appaloosa which is in need of a sheriff. This is on account of Jeremy Irons being a powerful rancher having killed the last one. Things get a little complicated when a farmhand offers to testify to the murder. Tim has Raw Deal(1986). An Arnold Schwarzenegger film where he plays a disgraced FBI agent. He gets …

This week on Anime Pulse we got a return to reviews, jump scares, and morally grey characters. Up first Joseph wrapped up Arcade Paradise and delves into BioShock Remastered, meanwhile Andrew wants to know about the characters we know are bad but still end up rooting for in the end. Then in the industry news a dumb idiot American thought it would be a good idea to vandalize a hugely popular shrine in Japan, and an equally dumb American mother gets Assassination Classroom banned at a school district. Finally in the reviews Joseph goes solo to tackle dungeons, and Andrew, a leader of an evil army, falls in love with a magical girl.

What manga review show has two thumbs and two manga? Probably a lot of them actually but we’ll fit that bill for today. Though you know what we don’t fit? Those darn skinny jeans we keep getting sent to review from Aliexpress. Who in the hell thinks we want those and need to review them? Sure they make our package look fantastic but there’s more to life than a stunningly wrapped tackle. Tim has Jinrui-shoku. It’s sometime in the distant now and there are things called “mummily”s This is apparently a thing were family members die, become desiccated corpses, then wander around for a bit. This happens to Hayato when …

This week on Anime Pulse we got our last previews show of the season, IRL trouble for a vtubing imp, and Andrew's trip to China. Up first Joseph wrapped up his time with Moonlighter, and Andrew almost forgets to post a topic of the week. Then in the industry news, a vtuber by the name of Camila almost found herself in the plot of Misery, and the vatican released an anime mascot much to the delight of hentai artists. And finally in our last Fall 2024 previews show Joseph and Andrew work together to talk about a gender swapping martial artist, a boy who loses his weiner while a girl gets abducted by aliens, and the latest season of Who is Rem?

Take a look, there is no book. Because this isn’t the Reading Rainbow. This is Popcorn Pulse and we do movies. So how about a movie that was written by the same guy who did LA Confidential? You might remember it as the movie which got a lot of buzz back in the nineties. Going so far as to get Oscar noms. You can imagine a writer might try to get lightning to strike twice after that. Because everybody wants both Hollywood money and acclaim. We bring you Street Kings[2008]. It stars Keanu as a cop who drinks and is depressed. He had a falling out with his partner, played …

Spooky season is upon us. Or at least it was at the time of recording. We may or may not have picked manga that corresponds with the time of year of pumpkins and costumes. Because we have the planning abilities of a local city council that keeps getting voted out every six months. Which might be justified because we keep trying to allocate the budget to building a statue to Shinzo Abe with a “Please have Sex” plaque. Tim has Fear: Reiwa Kaidan which is inline with Halloween season. It’s a set of short stories. Which means it doesn’t have a lot of room to breathe. This also means that …

This week on Anime Pulse we got more previews, small houses, and federal offenses. Up first Joseph delivers some up and down news about house hunting, and Andrew is excited by the return of a few big vtubers. Then in the industry news, a very real crime was being committed by CrunchyRoll for over 5 years. And finally one last round of previews before Andrew goes on a little vacation, with Joseph saving his killer bunny people from dating goddesses and Andrew attends a mixer full of spirals that led to blue boxes.

It’s that time of year again where the promised sequels, just like the executives on top of their favorite hookers, are coming. We have at least one of those cock teases which do not lead to sex in the champagne room. That’s right, Dune: Part 2[2024]. So the first part seemed kind of promising. Baron Harkonen’s plan had succeeded in driving out the Atredies and retaking Arrakis. We weren’t threatened with a trilogy so everything has to wrap up in this one. That’s a lot of reliance on the acting ability of the failed Wonka player. There’s a lot to pick apart and we do our darnedest to stay on …

This week on Anime Pulse we got the next round of previews, house hunting, and breaking free from prison. Up first Joseph is excited to say he might have found the house he can buy, and Andrew stocked up on horror games for the spooky month. Then in the industry news, there's just one topic to talk about, and that's the acquisition of Toho. And finally the previews wrap things up as Joseph talks his way out of a dragon life in 2099, and Andrew has to pronounce his title carefully or else a mushroom dog will bring back his dead wife as an elementary student.
