Another Dolphins Podcast

On this episode of Phinsider Daily, Matt Cannata dives deep with NFL NextGen Stats to see if a new QB in Josh Rosen will make any difference. While Ryan Fitzpatrick struggled, how much blame can be placed on him? While responsible for some of the mishaps, he's been playing with a wide receiver group who just isn't getting the job done. Do we expect that to change with Rosen under center? The advanced analytics provide a skeptical outlook.

Cannata also talks about Taco Charlton and what it means for the Dolphins moving forward. How can help this team, and how can he grow into a force? Believe it or not, if a few pieces fall into place, the Dolphins could be set at the defensive line position with just one more addition in the 2020 NFL Draft. How? Cannata explains.

Finally, he gives his take on the national media and their rants against the Dolphins. Is it deserved, or should they re-focus their energy on something different?

The Miami Dolphins travel on the road for the first time in the 2019 season to take on the Dallas Cowboys. The hard-working triumvirate of Matthew Cannata, Josh Houtz, and A-A-Ron Sutton will dedicate at least 13 seconds to the upcoming Sunday matchup. The Dolphins currently sit as 21.5 point underdogs.

We will hash out all the wrinkles and layers to this rebuilding process, including the recent trade of Minkah Fitzpatrick. Do we trust the guys leading the process? What’s the ideal plan of attack as minds and hearts already wander to the 2020 season? Cannata also takes you on a trip behind the scenes

On today’s episode of Phinsider Daily, I talk about my trip to Miami where I got to watch the game as a credentialed member of the media. Join me as I take you behind the scenes of a Dolphins game vs the New England Patriots. I also discuss my infatuation with juicy IPAs .

We then turn our attention to the Minkah Fitzpatrick trade and what it means for the team moving forward. How will the Dolphins defense look in a post Fitzpatrick Era? Where might Pittsburgh’s first-round draft pick rank among the rest of the field?

Lastly, we talk about Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa. Is he worth an 0-16 season? Let me tell you why he is a once in a generation QB and if Miami misses out on him, 2020 will be a failure.

~Minkah Fitzpatrick got traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a 1st round draft pick.

Wow.

What we don’t know is if it’s for a 2020 1st rounder or 2021 1st rounder.

I completed the production of the podcast like 5 minutes before the news dropped, LOL!

~ We will go down the rabbit hole of what the Miami Dolphins would do after they drafted #1. Would you go offense or defense with the 2nd 1st round pick?

The Miami Dolphins look to pick up the pieces after an embarrassing home loss to the Baltimore Ravens this past Sunday. The kryptonite that Hard Rock Stadium usually poses towards a visiting New England Patriots team seems like weak sauce when staring at the 18-point spread as a home underdog. What kind of contest should Dolphins fans expect? Cannata, Houtz, and Sutton will hash that out. We will also find opportunities to make fun of Matthew.

Naturally, inevitably, we’ll discuss the future of the organization and whether the plan being carried out is the correct one for the Dolphins. Would we have done anything differently? Are people really that shocked about the teams’ intention in 2019 or is it the residual embarrassment of the Week 1 loss?

Check out this week’s episodes of Phinsider Daily, our individual spin-off shows (and we alternate on Fridays)...

Monday: Cannata says Flores has a big challenge in front of him

Tuesday: A-A-Ron takes a look at the young nucleus and whether getting the #1 pick is necessary for the ultimate rebuild

Wednesday: Houtz has a group therapy session with Jake Mendel from In the Hunt

On today’s episode of Phinsider Radio, I am joined by In the Hunt’s very own, Jake Mendel to discuss the current state of the Miami Dolphins. Where does the team go after their 59-10 beat down at home? Is this the perfect season to #TankForTur, or are the Dolphins even worse than we imagine? Who performed well on Sunday despite the worst home loss in franchise history?!?!

We then discuss which Dolphins’ player we think will have a Greg Camarillo moment this season. Could it be Mark Walton? Maybe it’s Chandler Cox? One thing we do know is that there’s plenty of bad football ahead for the 2019 Miami Dolphins. But when the dust settles, Miami will be in much better position than they were when it started.

Lastly, we talk about Josh Rosen and when we might see the 22-year old QB in Miami. Houtz in the press box this weekend? Who is Darth Vader’s son? If not Tua, than who-uh?

~ I’ll discuss who I consider to be members of the ever-elusive “young nucleus” and give a cursory look at how they did versus the Baltimore Ravens — I’ll define who I believe is in the Dolphins nucleus and whose stock is up and whose stock is down.

~ Could the Miami Dolphins still be really bad and have a good draft pick without falling on the sword and trying to guarantee the #1 pick? What does the draft data say?

~ If the Miami Dolphins finish 1-15, who will be this year’s Greg Camarillo?

Join Matt Cannata on today's edition of Phinsider Daily as he talks about the Miami Dolphins loss against the Baltimore Ravens, and how he sees this season playing out.

Yes, the Dolphins were beat up by the Ravens, but is it time for Dolphins fans to start panicking? Sure, the mandate this season was to lose to ensure a top pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, but no one thought the Dolphins would get beat THIS bad. What went wrong for Miami, and is there any hope for the future weeks for this team to be competitive?

In addition, Brian Flores will have his work cut out for him off the field as there have been reports that multiple players have already started to request a trade. I tell you what I know about the situation, and how it will impact this team moving forward.

Finally, the Patriots come to town in Week 2. Can Flores and his staff find the right game plan to compete with New England, or should fans be bracing themselves for another blowout loss?

Join me on today's Phinsider Daily for all of this and more!
