In the 2008-2009 school year, 557 students dropped out of Norfolk Public Schools - 447 of them African American. In Portsmouth, 327 students dropped out - 252 African American. In Virginia Beach that same year, 446 dropped out - 199 African American. Why are our children dropping out of school? And the better question, what are we doing to stop the trend?
