Want to learn how to negotiate your salary without feeling icky, greedy, or undeserving? 👇🏻
Tune into this week’s episode to hear:
✔️ Why I believe you MUST negotiate your salary EVERY time, especially if you’re a woman or minority (psst...if you don’t, it’s estimated the gender pay gap will take 180 years to fix itself)
✔️ The truth to settle fears like: “I don’t deserve it”, “I’m just grateful they offered me the job at all”, or “I don’t want to come off as greedy or pushy”
✔️ HOW to come up with an appropriate salary range to pitch, based on thorough market research (hint: Glassdoor is NOT enough!)
✔️ How to gain leverage in the salary negotiation conversation to skyrocket your likelihood of success

Today I’m joined by my friend, Eduardo Zaldivar, a venture capital and private equity investor who has humbly and boldly achieved great heights in his career early on for the glory of God and the good of others. Eduardo has worked in Consulting, at a Startup, and is now in Venture Capital and Private Equity before headed to school next fall for a joint Stanford MBA and Harvard Masters in Public Policy program.
My favorite thing about Eduardo is that he is truly passionate about lifting up others in mentorship and encouragement to help them achieve their own highest goals. This episode is full of thought-provoking wisdom and practices you can implement to fulfill your own definition of success in your life and career.
While this episode is full of advice you can learn from, I think it’s even more powerful to simply witness Eduardo’s example as a Christ-follower who isn’t driven to “succeed” for is own sake, but rather to uplift others materially and relationally.
I know you’ll be inspired by Eduardo’s exceptional perspective, humility, and purpose in behind his hard work, which he pursues with a sense of calling.
Enjoy!

5 years ago, I was paralyzed by big career decisions and worried I wouldn't ever find anything truly fulfilling. With the gift of time, I've been able to see how some my biggest fears and biggest goals have played out - which had me thinking....
If I could go back and talk to my early 20s self, what advice, encouragement, and perspective would she need to hear the most? What would I tell her?
Tune into this episode to hear what I'd tell my early 20s self about:

After years of working with "multi-passionate" clients in my career coaching practice, I'm sharing why I believe most people are not truly multi-passionate, and how for most people, buying into the notion that you're a multi-passionate person could be holding you back in your career.

Over the last 2.5 years since starting my career coaching practice, I’ve gotten to be in a very unique place where I get to observe and help people make decisions (big and small) in my daily work. I also get to help people comb through their story to pinpoint what past decisions were truly from God, and which were made up of meaning and purpose that didn’t turn out to be there.
Through all this, I knew it’s time to bring up the themes I’ve observed in how to discern a true calling from a fake one. In this episode, I share:
Enjoy!

Hey accountants - we see you! This week's guest, Megan McGinnis, and I BOTH began the first two years of our careers working for two of the "Big 4" Public Accounting Firms. Megan was in Audit and I was on the advisory side of the business in Tech Consulting.
We know that, especially if you've worked SO hard to earn your master's degree and take your CPA exams, it can be ESPECIALLY difficult to consider leaving the field to "start over" in a new one if you're feeling dissatisfied.
That's why Megan came on the show to share her crazy encouraging story of reclaiming hope, excitement, and peace in her career after making a HUGE pivot this summer!
In less than 6 months, Megan:
1) Went through the career coaching process with me and discerned the new path she was called to pursue
2) Left accounting and started a fully booked out business as a Virtual Assistant
3) Was taken on as a full-time employee by one of her Start Up clients, where she now serves as the Director of Operations!
In this episode, Megan shares:
- Advice on how to know if it’s time to leave
- How to know if you should just work as an accountant for a different company vs. switch career paths altogether
- Practices you can use to make your time in accounting more life-giving if you’re feeling called to stay, even if for just one more busy season
- Words of comfort and wisdom if you’re worried about “sunk cost” or wasting your accounting experience if you choose to switch career paths
- I also share my prayer for you and your career at the end of the episode!
Enjoy!!
P.S. In the episode, I mentioned that Megan is a licensed CPA. I forget to mention that she's technically just a CPA candidate as her application is still pending in the Covid slow-down! *s/o to all you detailed-oriented accountants who read the fine print* haha
