Guilt Trip Trap (say that 5 times in a row! LOL): Ever felt guilty for leaving a party early because someone hit you with a passive-aggressive comment?
In this episode, we break down why people react this way - Psychological Reactance, Projection, and FOMO - and how to respond with kindness while holding firm boundaries. We also explore Cortisol’s role in that gut-wrenching guilt and how Neuroplasticity can help us rewire our response over time. Plus, if you’re still feeling guilty from a party years ago, we explain Emotional Conditioning and Anticipatory Anxiety. Setting boundaries is self-care, and you don’t owe anyone an explanation.

Our brains instinctively make quick visual judgments based on past experiences and expectations. This natural reflex, often triggered by surprise, isn’t a conscious choice. The key is self-awareness—acknowledge it, shift focus, and move forward without overthinking.

Spring in the Midwest is just an emotional trap. But hey, at least we’re in it together. I support you if you’re still wearing your winter coat in April. If you’ve already busted out the flip-flops, I mean… I question you, but I still support you. And if you’re feeling emotionally all over the place, blame the weather. That’s what I’m doing.

We all have moments where we accidentally say the wrong thing. But guess what? Most people aren’t thinking about it nearly as much as you are. If someone chooses to be offended by a harmless comment, that’s on them. Correct it if needed, move on, and remind yourself: You’re not a terrible person.

Master the Pause – Before you react, take a deep breath. Internally scream if necessary.
Say "Okay" – Not engaging is a power move. Blank stare + slow nod = instant de-escalation.
Internally Scream – Let it out in your head. Imagine yourself flipping a table… but don’t do it.
Externally Scream (Into a Towel) – If you need to release the rage, find a safe space. A towel. A pillow. Your car. Just not at Karen in Accounting.
Release the Tension – Shake it off, take a deep breath, or go for the classic bathroom escape move.
Smile and Move On – The ultimate flex? Being unbothered.
Walk away
