Episode 144-Born from jets, now in the hands of a ginger.
It was bound to happen sometime -- we made a whole show that was about cars. Dave bought a Viggen, Ian fell in love with a Citroen, and we reveal Dave's rapper name: MC SPF50. That last one is still about cars, we promise.
Episode 143-We don't mean to brag, we don't mean to boast, but DAVE LIKES TOAST.
Look, pride is not something we're very familiar with here at the TeamClearCoat Podcast. I mean, we are proud of our persistence, our blanket fort construction abilities, and of each other. So maybe we just don't like talking about it? Speaking of being proud of each other, Dave shines the interrogation light into Ian's face to try to get him to admit that he's actually good at driving. Maybe it is his Scorsese eyebrows protecting him, but the guy seems to be immune to it.
Another thing that we guess we'll cop to being proud of is the video we made! It's up on our YouTube channel now, and chances are if you're reading this, you've already seen it. If you haven't though, oh buddy, hop on over to our YouTube channel and watch it with your whole eyeballs. Be sure to hang around for Ian's Nick Fury (more like Nick Furry, hey oh!) moment.
In between those boastful bookends, Dave talks about being THE FASTEST PASSENGER, and what it's like when people see your wiener. Mobile. Weinermobile. That's it. Or an Aventador. They're basically the same. It's fine.
Episode 142-Hot hot hot? Not.
In this episode, we start off on the wrong foot. In a drastic over-correction, we quickly pivot to yet another wrong foot. Thankfully we have yet another installment of Getting Wet With Ian to almost sort of wash away body hair and BMs. Almost.
As the metaphorical shampoo drips into our eyes, so do the hot takes on the Tesla Model 3. They burn. OH HOW THEY BURN! The cure? Well, water, crying, and not opening Twitter for a while, as well as a well-placed phone wallpaper of someone or something you love.
We also play our first messages to come into the Hotline, which inspires us to question our sanity, our motivation, and our apparently masochistic tendencies. That being said, we want, yea need you to call. If you see something, say something, to us.
Episode 141-Horses, high.
Well good news everyone, Dave's still on his F1 high horse and we'll be honest, hold your slow claps, it's exhausting. That as it may be, his pithiness may be more entertaining than the latest EFFONE race.
Ian falls hard when Dave provides him with a new object of his affection in a beautiful round of FMKCars that was birthed from very very very VERY specific Google searches. That paves way to our urgent need for more car news in non-car stories. If a 83 Toyota Cressida was involved in a bizarre crime, then dang it, we need, nay DESERVE to know about it!
Also, Rolls Royce pretends to be Lincoln for a bit, in that they didn't make us mad, they just disappointed us. Speaking of letting down your elders, we recorded this episode on Mother's Day. We share stories about our moms, the cars they drove, and the music that they listened to, Manilow and otherwise.
Episode 1400-Hotline Dingus
Very few things make Ian rage as much as rich youths. Thankfully, because this is a car show, the angry man in his mid-thirties, yep, mid, (Dave wrote this description) channeled his energy into an FMKCars.
Speaking of FMKCars, thanks Nick @radmobilegaming for sending in a great one, in which we were reminded of the fascinating Chrysler ME FourTwelve! It's a shame that one never got made. May it motor along in concept-only car heaven with the Ford GT-90 and Dodge Copperhead.
A couple garage updates, a rental car tale, and a dorky tweet by the CEO of Uber round out this episode. Thanks for watching!
Episode 139-He's bad.
We'd like to credit our friend and listener, Eric, that correctly summarized the rare occurrence of Dave actually doing something other than nothing when it came to fantasy sports. Something something clock broken something twice something. Something like that. Something indeed. They say you can't win them all, but would it be equally true to say that you can't lose them all? No. That's not correct at all. You can definitely, for sure, absolutely, without a doubt lose them all.
Speaking of losing it, Ian's ankle injury seems to have migrated upstairs to his gray matter. Not his hair, the other gray matter, nope that would be his cardigian, dangit, we're talking about his brain here people. His big ol' wacky brain. Dave does a bit of diagnosis and comes to a rapid conclusion that Ian is how you say…"cray cray".
Craziness, karting, cardigans (as in apparel, not the Swedish pop bands from the 90's, but they're cool), and more, all on this week's episode.
Episode 138-Pampered
Listeners, we'd like to start off with what we should start every episode with, an apology. Surely you're no stranger to how life happens, and over the past couple of weeks, Ian sure has had some life happen.
As we congragulate him on bringing a healthy baby boy into the world, we made the best with the time we had and recorded a quick episode.
Sit back, turn on your seat coolers, and take a ride with us to the Denver International Airport. Your begingered Lyft driver and noted taffy addict has arrived.
Episode 137-Content is so hot right now.
We've talked before about how being in our orbit kind of wobbles the orbit of people around us, and in this episode we continue to discuss the impact of calling out what we see on the street.
In addition to Ian refusing to recognize how integers work, we reminisce on car brands from the 90s, and expose the soft spot in our hearts for Panoz.
Speaking of soft spots, it's interesting how some brands expose theirs without intending to do so. Making discoveries like this means our time at the Denver Auto Show was well spent. Poking soft spots, producing that piping hot hashtag content, and general tomfoolery, that's the TeamClearCoat you've come to know and trust.
Episode 136-RacersHQ Take Two
This week in the blanket fort, we bring in our (virtual) guest Jake from RacersHQ! You probably already know Jake from the Rags to Races podcast, or you probably already know him from the tales we tell on our podcast of how awesome he is, what a fast kart racer he is, and how awesome it is to be on a racing crew with him!
Well now, you see, ol' Jake here is embarking on a new adventure. (I don't know why, but when I wrote that, it sounded like the Dukes of Hazard voiceover in my head, so you should probably read it that way too). Anyway...ahem...Well, Jake here, he's now at the helm of RacersHQ, and we're going to talk to him to get the scoop.
Thanks for coming back on the show Jake, you're welcome in the blanket fort anytime!
Episode 135-You're gonna want to pack some juice.
Dear listener, we'd like to extend an invitation to you. As if it wasn't enough of a chore for you to honor our weekly invitations into the blanket fort, we'd like to extend you an invite with a bit of spin this week.
See, we somehow manage to continue to be legitimate automotive journalists, therefore we get to cover the press day at the 2018 Denver Auto Show. Between attending manufacturer presentations and producing piping hot video content (really just Dave yelling about bikes on top of cars) we produced this episode for you, our dear listener.
We humbly present to you the not-very-in-any-way-shape-or-form Official Denver Auto Show Audio Tour Guide. As you attend our humble regional auto show, either in person or spirit, pop in an earbud and walk with us as we take you through what it's like to be at a very low rung on the journalistic ladder. Thanks for listening, we love you.
