  • AP Week: Whether We Want to or Not: The Public Speaking We All Have to Do!
Many people think they don’t do any public speaking at work; most are wrong. Whether we like it or not, we all have to speak in public sometimes, even if it’s something as simple as a Zoom call. Likewise, many don’t think they need an Elevator, or Networking pitch. Correction: Everyone does and in this video we explain why. #networkingpitch #accountspayable #APWeek
Whether you work in accounts payable, accounting, P2P, audit, treasury or some other corporate function, the likelihood is that you have to do amount, of public speaking. We include in that definition the following: Zoom calls, staff meetings and presentations to management. • Wordle: Aggravation
I love playing Wordle, but sometimes it can be really aggravating! Do you ever start strong on a round of Wordle, certain you are going to solve it in the third round .. and then it all gets away from you because there are too many choices. Let me share a few of the more aggravating rounds I’ve had playing Wordle, starting with Monday’s STING … and I’m not going to even comment too much on how I felt like the victim of a STING (bad joke).
Wordle is the game that has been sweeping the Internet. With only one hand each day, players have six chances to guess the daily five-letter word. A green square indicates a correct letter in the correct spot and a yellow letter reveals a correct letter in a different spot. And then there are the little spoken-about Wordle tips. In fact, I’ve never seen one of them mentioned anywhere!

  • Evolution in the Workplace [Trends]
Evolution in the Workplace over the last two years has been immense. The trends that have emerged [Great Resignation, Great Renegotiation, Quiet Quitting, Quiet Firing, The Great Pushback and Overemployment] are issues we never considered before, or at least before the pandemic hit. Can you imagine telling your boss in 2019 that you wanted to work remotely and you didn’t really care what the company policy was? Several of these phenomena, #quietquitting #greatpushback #overemployment, are new to the workplace
The workplace has changed a lot over the last two years. Great Resignation, Great Renegotiation, Great Pushback, Quiet Quitting, Quiet Firing and Overemployment (which is not about your boss overworking you) are all changing the way the workplace is viewed. It is almost like employers and employees are renegotiating the employment contract or agreement, with both having changed expectations.
How long the phenomena of Great Resignation, Great Renegotiation, Great Pushback, Quiet Quitting, Quiet Firing and Overemployment impact the workplace remains to be seen. But,at least for the current period, Great Resignation, Great Renegotiation, Great Pushback, Quiet Quitting, Quiet Firing and Overemployment are making an impact – even if it’s only to generate a lot of conversations and debates.

  • Internal Controls that NEVER Work [Accounts Payable Process]
Controls that appear at first glance to provide excellent protection for your accounts payable process sometimes don’t. Don’t be fooled. What’s more, companies relying on them only learn that they don’t when the funds disappear. In this episode we look at 3 tactics commonly used by companies to protect against accounts payable fraud and duplicate payments that actually don’t work. #bestpractices in #accountspayable by their very nature incorporate strong #internalcontrols.
Accounts payable and accounting rely on strong internal controls to protect the organizations finances as well as its accounts payable proves. That’s why relying on internal controls that in reality don’t work can create issues for any accounting or accounts payableteam.
When it comes to the accounts payable best practices, they start with strong internal controls across the entire procure-to-pay chain. This means avoiding practices that might be comfortable but in actuality provide no value. It’s important that everyone watching this recognize the fallacy in relying on the three tactics discussed in the video.

  • Wordle: Dealing with Three Vowels
Let’s talk about three vowels in a Wordle hand. This happens from time to time – and in fact, presented an odd scenario this week when playing Phoodle, a sister game to Wordle focused on food. In this unusual hand (or round, depending on what you call each Wordle game), I’ll share my thinking and then give you an opportunity to see if you would have guessed the answer quicker than I did. Make sure you stick around until the end when I reveal the hurdles or mindset issues that kept me from a faster solution. #wordle #phoodle #wordlestrategy
Wordle solutions do not always start with consonants. Some wordle solutions, as we’ll discuss start with vowels. To solve a wordle puzzle, the wordle player must be open to all different combinations of letters, for the Wordle solutions don’t always follow the same pattern.
