  • Work-Life Mastery in Respecting Time, Place, and Clients: Interview with Peter Sandiford

As an architect, nothing feels better than knowing a space you designed brought someone joy, or peace. But it's not easy to tap into that zone when you aren't making space for any of that in your own life.  In this episode, you'll hear from architect Peter Sandiford how he stopped going against the grain and started working with his instincts, energy levels and the environment to uplevel his practice.

    1. People sense when a building flows, with the rhythms of the environment by being sustainable and resilient, with the culture by respecting the vernacular, and with their own energy using feng shui principles.
    2. Happy architects make happy buildings. Work life integration requires that you respect your time and energy first.
    3. Find the work style that works for you and you'll stop struggling to be successful.

    5. The Super Secret Power of Introverts

It's all about energy, and if you're an introvert, you aren't getting it by peopling. Not that you're misanthropic.  You just need to be very discerning about what and who gets your precious energy and build in recovery time. Deep dive with me into this topic

      1. Introverts are not incompetent extroverts, you have a whole different style of interfacing with the world that gets corrupted when you are expected to wear the mask of an extrovert.
      2. Introverts are empathetic and passionate people. You care about the people and causes they resonate with and commit to them unflinchingly.
      3. Because introverts expend energy from interacting with others, you selectively invest it in alignment with your passions.
      4. Introverts can see the patterns, connect the dots, and convene the right resources because you take the time to process - trust your instincts
      5. It's essential to rest and restore in order to be able to function best when interacting with others. Self care helps you exhibit your strengths not your weaknesses.

                  6. Design a Message That Moves - Brand Strategy for Architects: Interview with Robert Bean

Sick of marketing that feels fake? Robert Bean of IMPACT shares how ethical persuasion and purpose-driven storytelling attract dream clients - no selling out necessary. Discover how your unique purpose, not the usual list of qualifications, is your most valuable marketing tool.

                    1. Design has a unique power to heal, but we don't spend enough time talking about how the spaces we create will make someone feel
                    2. Marketing is the energy of stating "I'm here!" You have to value yourself to be valued.
                    3. Your unique story is your value, not the status quo
                    4. Always apply the "fun metric." If you aren't enjoying your work, you're stuck and so is your ability to resonate with clients and be ingenious.
                    5. The magic of attracting ideal clients lies in the story of your purpose, the BTS process of creating a design and the testimonial of user experience.
                    6. The story emerges when we listen, to ourselves and our clients. Telling that story is one of the highest forms of marketing - ethical persuasion

We can all use a little brand therapy. Realigning what we do and why we do it with the people who want and need our services.  In this interview, Jaime Schwarz shares the secret sauce to authentic and resonant branding.

                      1. When you heal your business identity, you reconnect with your audience
                      2. Brand therapy is more than a rebrand or a logo refresh. It's a strategic and emotional deep dive into the soul of your business to uncover what’s been holding your brand back and what will move it forward.
                      3. Whether you DIY or work with a brand therapist, the first step is awareness. Start by asking:

                        • What do I want people to feel when they interact with my brand?

                        • Am I proud of how my brand shows up in the world?

                        • What values am I willing to defend at all costs?
