You may have heard of the book “Bad Therapy” where author Abigail Shrier argues that the mental health industry is harming, not healing, American children. Well today, we are fortunate to be joined by her colleague Carolyn Gorman, who similarly studies mental health solutions- in and out of schools- and their efficacy, or lackthereof. Next week, we will follow up this conversation with an alternate perspective, so stay tuned for the full pairing. 

Carolyn D. Gorman is a Paulson Policy Analyst at the Manhattan Institute where her research examines how policy changes in the U.S. impact individuals with mental illness. Previously, Gorman was a data science and policy associate at the JPMorgan Chase Institute, an associate research scientist at the Coleridge Initiative, and the senior project manager for mental illness policy at Manhattan Institute.  Carolyn’s writing has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, New York Daily News, New York Post, City Journal, National Review, The Hill, and RealClearHealth, in addition to peer reviewed pieces. Carolyn holds a B.A. from Binghamton University and an M.S. in public policy from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service at New York University.
