With the writers and actors strike going on, I thought it would be interesting to look at some of the movie characters and performances brought to the big screen over the years. I want to really think about what these actors brought to the roles and why trying to replicate and recapture that magic almost never works out.

Some roles seem almost tailor made for actors. Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones and Han Solo. Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. Stallone as Rocky and Rambo. Arnold Schwarzenegger as The Terminator. Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka. There are tons of amazing performances that are hard to replicate.

I go over not just actors being replaced but also movie reboots/remakes/etc. and why a lot of people are so stand-offish about the prospect. Some films got it so right the first time, you don't want to see a part of that memory getting pushed away or replaced.
