Are State Prison Policies Unsafe For Corrections Officers and Inmates?  We all know that State Prisons can be very dangerous places. But are prison policies in the State of Nevada placing corrections officers in vulnerable positions? Do they increase the risk of injury for both officers and inmates? Our guest says yes. He recalls an incident in the Las Vegas area of Nevada where he was injured during a violent cell extraction and forced medication routine with an inmate. This attack left him with lifelong disabilities, ending his career in corrections.

Tim Santoro is our guest. Tim spent seven years working in a psychiatric detention center, gaining insights into the intersection of mental health, substance abuse, and the justice system. He was instrumental in developing the facility's intake unit and managed it for two years. Currently, he works as an independent security contractor and consultant. He elaborates on the broader impact of these unsafe policies on other corrections officers and staff. He served as a corrections officer in Nevada's mental and psychiatric facility, located in a neighborhood near schools in Las Vegas. He believes many residents are unaware of the facility's presence and the potential risks of violence from the inmates housed there. The man, once a source of terror, became remorseful and horrified by his actions, highlighting the severe consequences of untreated mental illness.
