The U.S. will extend the COVID-19 public health emergency through at least April 11, 2023, Biden administration officials confirmed to CNBC on November 11th.

But why? Does this make sense with the COVID pandemic virtually over?

HHS last renewed the PHE on October 13th for an additional 90 days to January 11th, 2023 — it also told states it would provide notice 60 days before if it did decide to end it, or November 11th, that didn’t happen.
