The Mission of Holiday Express is to deliver music, food, gifts, financial support and friendship to those with the greatest need for the gift of human kindness during the holiday season and throughout the year. There are two benefit Holiday Express Concerts coming up on 12/16 and 12/17 at the Count Basie Theater in Red Bank. It’s Around Ocean County with guest Geralyn Fraggetta Drury, the new director at Freehold Area Open Door. Open Door has been in operation since 1987, serving the food insecure and homeless in the Freehold area. However, they have recently expanded their services to all residents of New Jersey. Everyone is welcome to come in and receive bread and produce Monday through Friday. A full bundle of food is available three times per week, and on an emergency basis. No one walks away hungry. If they do not qualify for any reason, Freehold Area open Door will connect them to the right organization.

We’re back with Geralyn Fraggetta Drury, the new director at Freehold Area Open Door. Open Door has been in operation since 1987, serving the food insecure and homeless in the Freehold area. Donations from area stores such as Shop Rite, Wegmans, Costo and Sams Club donate regularly to Open Door. They also welcome personal donations from the public. Foodstock, a yearly community food drive will be held this year at Freehold Independent Fire Company located on Stillwell Corners Road in Freehold on October 19th. All donations go directly to Open Door. Open Door has a paid staff of two, with over 120 Volunteers who work hard to ensure residents are being taken care of. Food delivery has also begun to area Seniors who are unable to come to Open Door on their own. This week, Lisa’s guest is Michelle Gannon, co-founder of Mary's Place By The Sea. Mary's Place is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a place for women with cancer to heal mind, body and soul. They provide services that complement their medical treatment, including oncology massage, nutrition, education, individual counseling, Reiki, guided meditation, expressive writing, and yoga. Since 2009, over 9,000 women with cancer from around the country have become "guests" of Mary's Place. There are overnight stays, and day stays, as the waiting list is six months.

We’re back with Michelle Gannon, co-founder of Mary’s Place By The Sea.  Their new facility is a beautiful ten room home located on Main Street in Ocean Grove. Vegan meals are prepared for the women, and rooms overlook the ocean from balconies and a large porch. Mary's Place is celebrating their ten year anniversary on Saturday, October 19th at Asbury lanes in Asbury Park with music and comedy. This week, our guest is Bob Kessler, senior donor recruitment for Vitalant. Vitalant is one of the nation's oldest and largest blood service providers. They are a network of over 125 community blood centers. Bob discusses donor eligibility, donor process, and the strong need for blood donations for those in need. There is an area blood drive being held September 14th at the Monmouth Mall Community Center in Eatontown. Lunch Break provides food, clothing, fellowship, cooking classes, and job placement for thousands of individuals in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.  Recently, a building that was donated to Lunch Break was renovated with help from Habitat for Humanity and others. This week our guest is Mark Walsifer, Mayor of Belmar. He began his four year term as Mayor this past January.  Mayor Walsifer is a resident of Belmar since 1967.  After selling his trucking business, he became a Belmar police officer and retired after twenty five years of service. Walsifer is a past President and State Delegate of PBA local #50. He also served on the Belmar Board of Education for 17 years, as well as a former borough councilman.  Mayor Walsifer believes open communication is the key to solving any issues or problems that arise concerning the residents of Belmar. He believes the team he has put into place works hard to ensure the best outcome.

We’re back with Cara Kelly, the executive director for The First Tee, Jersey Shore.  The First Tee is a non-profit youth development organization whose mission is to impact, inspire and influence local children by delivering programs that teach core values and healthy choices with a focus on advancing diversity and providing access to all children in Monmouth and Ocean Counties.  There are two learning facilities serving children ages 7 - 17. Life lessons and core values are taught during the course of the program. The nine core values are Honesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Confidence, Responsibility, Perseverance, Courtesy, and Judgement. Even though golfing is thought of as a solitary sport, The First Tee encourages social skills and a team oriented environment.
