This week we speak to Cara Kelly, the executive director for The First Tee,Jersey Shore.  The First Tee is a non-profit youth development organization whose mission is to impact, inspire and influence local children by delivering programs that teach core values and healthy choices with a focus on advancing diversity and providing access to all children in Monmouth and Ocean Counties. Their mission It ensures no child will be turned away due to an inability to pay for lessons. All golf equipment, clubs and shoes are also provided for each individual. The First Tee receives grants and private funding from generous individuals.

This week, Lisa’s guest is Pat Wallace, spokesperson for the Toms River Rotary Club's Sailfest 2019 event.  Since it's inception in 1951, the Toms River Rotary Club has supported many area and international charities and non-profits.  Their motto is "An organization of men and women who put service above self," they began with twenty six members, many of whom served in WW2. One member from WW2 still is a part of the Rotary.  Some of their service projects include Scouting for Food, Feed the Hungry, Wreaths Across America, Community Medical Center, The House of Hope, oceans Harbor House, and many more. They have also provided yearly scholarships for soon to be college students in Ocean County. Sailfest is the Rotary's yearly event which brings a crowd of approximately fifteen thousand area visitors who come to enjoy a full day of food, fun and festivities. This year, Sailfest, which is being held on Saturday September 7th, features over 120 vendors and crafters, local bands providing music throughout the day, and over 15 Food Trucks.

This week, Lisa Anderson speaks to Daniel Reagan, a Howell resident who co-founded the non- profit CFC, Turning Lives Around.  The mission of CFC is to provide a model relapse prevention program that supports all pathways to recovery through peer driven and operated programs. They remain committed to helping individuals and families who are struggling with addiction.

To date, CFC has helped over 12,500 families. They offer support groups, sober living housing, and rahabilitation services. Daniel Reagan has recently been to Trenton to lobby for additional beds in his long awaited facility. They are envisioning a Wellness Center, focusing on mind, body and spirit. Holistic Healing is a part of the recovery, as well as sober activities such as skydiving, white water rafting, bowling, etc.

It’s Around Ocean County with Lisa Anderson and guest Daniel Reagan, a Howell resident who co-founded the non- profit CFC, Turning Lives Around.  CFC was founded in 2012 when Danile, just out of rehab for his own addiction, realized the urgent need for aftercare. He and his Mom, Lynn Reagan, began CFC along with support for newly sober individuals such as job placement, financial education, and sober living. This week our guest is Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato Jr.  Mayor Amato is currently serving his eighth consecutive year as mayor. Berkeley Township has a growing population of over 41,000 residents. Some municipalities within Berkeley Township include Bayville, Beechwood, Pinewald, Seaside Heights and Seaside Park.  They boast many parks and recreational facilities, making it a great place to raise a family or visit during the summer season.

We’re back with Berkeley Township Mayor Carmen Amato Jr.  One of the highlights of the summer season is the Summer Concert Series held in Veterans Park. Each year, thousands of residents and visitors gather to enjoy a variety of bands, food and more. They feature a weekly farmers market, a mayor's exercise program, and yoga on the beach. They also partake in Community Pride Day, which features food vendors, entertainment and appearances by the EMS, Fire Department and Police Departments.  Senior services are also a big part of the township due to a large population of seniors who reside there. This week our guest is Judyth Brown, executive director for MOCEAN center for Independent living.  MOCEAN Center helps people in Monmouth and Ocean counties with disabilities live a normal and productive life.  They are a non-residential consumer controlled community based non-profit organization. MOCEAN provides information, instruction, and support to the disabled (temporary or permanent) as well as their family and friends. They are also active in helping with youth transition, helping high school students find housing and job opportunities.
