Welcome to this weekend's Around Ocean County with Lisa Anderson and today's guest is Mike Bucca, director of marketing of Ocean's Harbor House.  Ocean's Harbor House began as a grass roots organization in 1985 by a concerned group of parents who were concerned about the homeless youths in Toms River/Ocean County. Thirty years later, it has become a successful non profit organization and a safe haven for youth which has helped tens of thousands of homeless, at risk children and teens and their families with temporary and transitional housing counseling, and supportive services.

It's more with Mike Bucca, director of marketing for Ocean's Harbor House.  Did you know Oceans Harbor House relies on grants from the federal and state level as well as the generosity of the surrounding communities?  Each year, a bike ride is held where participants ride hundreds of miles to help raise funds to provide services for the area youth.  Staff members of Ocean's Harbor House are on hand at all times at the emergency twelve bed shelter, as well as volunteers. In the transitional house, there are many skills provided such as cooking, resume building and job placement after graduation of high school. It's Around Ocean County and this week's guest is Simone Tellini of POAC Autism Services, a non profit organization dedicated to educating the public on the many ways we can better serve the Autism community.  Simone discusses how POAC grew from a small grass roots group of parents meeting to address the difficulties and setbacks in raising an autistic child. Twenty years later, it has grown into a statewide organization which holds works hops and training programs for both parents and teachers, law enforcement, EMS and firefighters, families and the general public.

This weekend's show continues with Simone Tellini from POAC Autism Services.  Support groups and recreational family events are also held throughout the year all across New Jersey and POAC has found that through these many services, families find support for themselves and their autistic children. The autistic young adults are also guided and taught throughout grade and high school in preparation for college education, vocational school, and job skills to ensure they have the best possible success. POAC prides itself in being the pioneers in parent/teacher training. Membership, Volunteering and fundraising are what keeps POAC one of the leading organizations for autism services.

It's Around Ocean County with Lisa Anderson and special guest, Pat Donahue, Executive director and founder of the People's Pantry. The People's pantry is a 501C3 Organization formed in Ocean County shortly after the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. Pat discusses all the services they offer and currently it serves thousands of families throughout Ocean County with not only food, but other services such as Veteran assistance, Job placement, homelessness, free tax preparation and healthcare information.

Around Ocean County continues with Executive Director and founder of People's Pantry, Pat Donahue.   Did you know the People's Pantry also partners with JBJ (Jon Bon Jovi Kitchen) in which those in need can donate time to the kitchen in return for a voucher for food for their family?  The Pantry is set up like a supermarket, hoping it will help ease the stigma for the working poor to have to enter a food pantry. The People's Pantry is not affiliated with any church or Government Organization, therefor the Pantry relies heavily on community donations, fundraisers and volunteers.
