Around The House with Eric G ®

Hiring a contractor can be scary. Each state and even city can have different rules for contractors. Here is my take on the steps you should take before you hire one. There are plenty of great contractors so if you follow these steps you will have a greater chance of pulling out those bad ones.

I think most of us will agree that it feels good to think about warmer weather and spring. Outdoor living is one of the hottest areas of a home that is expanding and giving people more living space. We talk with Jim Haas from Blaze Outdoor Products about all the things you can do with that space from grills to refrigeration to outdoor cabinetry. Plus, we will dive into planning that space later in the show.

This has been a wild week across the country with weather. However, with our push for electric vehicles it has exposed an Achilles Heel to recharging that vehicle. In my area and in many others this week there have been massive power outages. At my house we were down for about 5 days. I am one of the lucky ones as I know of plenty of people that might have another week before they get service. If you had decided to run a fleet of electric vehicles you would have probably a day of power and then you would have been shut down. That could be crippling to your business if you can’t send your team out.

I am far from an electric vehicle hater as I would love to be able to produce my own fuel for my personal use and not have to depend on another company. Let’s talk about today where the problems are and what I think needs to be fixed BEFORE you transition over to an electric vehicle fleet.

Converting an attic space seems simple enough. You might move some insulation away, drop down some wood and start stacking. This could do some serious damage to your home. Let’s talk about the right way to try to use this space.

We then jump into the myths of getting rid of mold correctly and in a safe manner. First, we will put that bleach away. That wont work anyway

This whole episode was inspired by watching a video one of our listeners posted up on Around the House Nation. Our closed group Facebook group. You can see this video here: https://youtu.be/1pFbzLzNozM

The level of poor workmanship is criminal as people have a great chance of getting killed with the lack of permits, engineering, and lack of construction knowledge. Don't be surprised if that video gets taken down.

There are a ton of great flippers out there. This episode is going after the ones that don’t fit in that category.

Just like in football you can’t just have one big player and the rest follow along to success. In Construction, Design, and Remodeling it takes a solid team for you to win. No matter what you define winning as. Let’s talk about the key mindsets to have around you and the ones you need to remove.

Plus, Eric has a solid warning for something to be watched right now that could have you bleeding money if it is going unnoticed.
