Before we begin proper: this is part two of a chat with Charles Griffiths about The Sexy Brutale. If you haven't heard part one, please go back and listen to that before continuing because we jump straight into this discussion and you might miss out on some of the context for the conversation if you don't.
Remember that you can always get in touch with us on our Facebook page or on Twitter.
Don't forget to check the chapters tab in your podcatcher. This is a thing we're doing now, so keep an eye open for those.
We sat with Charles Griffiths, an award winning games designer, to talk about the modern classic The Sexy Brutale. As this episode is a direct continuation of the previous episode, we'd recommend only listening to this one once you've head part one.
In part two, we pass on questions from The Sexy Brutale discord server about the design of the game, characters and world, Jay asks about a Japanese connection, Squidge discusses the ending of the game, and Charles gives us some stellar advice for getting into the industry.
This episode is so chocked full of stuff, that I would recommend you check out the full show notes for this episode, as we've added a whole bunch of extra information there. And if you haven't played the game yet, you really should. It's out for practically all formats.
Have you played The Sexy Brutale? What did you think to it? If not, what has stopped you from trying it out? How do you feel about Moon Logic in puzzle games? Let us know on Twitter, Facebook, leave a comment on the show notes or try our brand new contact page.
And have you left us a rating or review? We really like to hear back from listeners about our show, so check out https://wafflingtaylors.rocks/our-podcast/ for links to services where you can leave us some wonderful feedback.

We sat with Charles Griffiths, an award winning games designer, to talk about the modern classic The Sexy Brutale. We talked with him about what he's been playing, (temporarily) dropped him off in the Thunder Plains, then asked him about the game:
are all topics of conversation. Charles also drops some knowledge on how he designs puzzles such that they aren't too easy or too difficult. So you'll definitely want to listen in to that.

Squidge and I really wanted to start a series called "Waffling Taylors Goes to the Movies" - seriously, check out that artwork. And what better a movie to start with than the 1994 silver screen version of Double Dragon? We go through the plot (what little of it there is), the characters, the special effects (which were actually pretty good for 1994), and some references to video games.
Also, Alyssa Milano doing a lot of bending over.
Make sure to check out the full show notes for more discussion on the points we raise, some extra meta-analysis, and some links to related things.
Are you a fan of the Double Dragon movie? Do you think it's a cinematic travesty? Are you looking forward to more of the "Waffling Taylors go to the Movies" episodes?
psst. we've already recorded another two episodes in this series

We sat with Andrew Dickinson (aka oddment84) again (he was on the show previously, on episode 71) to talk about his new book "Dreamcast: Year Two" - the follow up to his previous book "Dreamcast: Year One". In fact, the Kickstarter for is due to kick off (pardon the pun) a few days after this episode drops. So we wanted to catch up with Andrew about the new book, what he's been playing, and which games he'd want in a Dreamcast Mini.
This episode is so chocked full of discussion on the Dreamcast, the scene, the book, and the Kickstarter, that I would recommend that you check out the full show notes for this episode, as we've added a whole bunch of extra information there. There's also a link to the Kickstarter campaign in there - we'd have added it here, but the campaign is in preview as the episode drops and will "go live" a few days after.

We sat with Alex Aniel (aka cvxfreak) to talk about his upcoming book "Itchy, Tasty: An Unofficial History of Resident Evil", the entire Resident Evil series as a whole (from Suite Home all the way to the RE3 remake), his role in translating content for the fans (he lives and works in Japan, you see), and THAT dooty doot song from the Dual Shock Director's Cut - you know the one.
This episode is so chocked full of Resident Evil facts, that I would recommend you listen to it multiple times in order to get them all. I'd also recommend that you check out the full show notes for this episode, as we've added a whole bunch of extra information there. Also definitely take a look at Alex's book, as it looks like it's going to be a really fascinating read.

We sat with Eben Upton of the Raspberry Pi Foundation to talk about Code The Classics: Volume 1. This is a new book from the Raspberry Pi Press all about re-creating some of the classic games of the 80s and early 90s using the Python programming language. We also talked about retro gaming on the Raspberry Pi, some of the most interesting uses for them, and what I'm doing with the 4 (yes 4?!) Pis that I have in my house.
Jay also mention one of the silly games that I'd created a few years back called "Run Away!". It's quite silly, and has a simple concept: run away from the monster. Simple though it is, it's a little more complex to master. Check it out here: https://runaway-game.netlify.app/ it's free to play and works on both mobile and computer web browsers.
Eben is a wonderful chap with a very silly sense of humour, he indulged Jay's need to talk about programming for a while, and we even convinced him to talk through the games that he's been playing recently. We're hoping to have him back on the show soon (perhaps for when Code The Classics Volume 2 comes out, but we'd love to chat with him some more before then too) to drop him off in the Thunder Plains and discuss a little more about his favourite games ever.
Only time will tell...

We sat down with Lulu to talk all things Final Fantasy VII Remake, and ended up talking for about 4 hours. This episode is part two of that discussion; in it, we talk about that Moogle slide (yes it returns), relationships, expanded character backstories and interactions. Also, the fact that Jay still hasn't played it yet.

We sat down with Lulu to talk all things Final Fantasy VII Remake, and ended up talking for about 4 hours. This episode is part one of that discussion; in it, we talk about Wall Market, the remake as a whole, "that" section of the game, Hell House, and some top tips. We also talked about materia, Sephiroth's hair (and Lulu's hair envy), weapons, sound design, summons, and the fact that I haven't even played it yet.

We sat down with Stan from the team behind Play 0 A.D. which is a gorgeous, free to play, open-source RTS. We talked about the history of the game (did you know that it's been in development for 20 years?), what it runs on (including PS2, Switch, Raspberry Pi, and your 10-year-old laptop), and why you should try this game out - even if you're not into RTS titles.

There's a single swear in this episode. Since we're not doing full show notes on the site for this one, here are the details: at 8 minutes (exactly) Squidge says "for shits and giggles". Please listen responsibly.

We wanted to release a short bonus episode detailing where we've been - hopefully you've noticed that we haven't released any episodes in the past few weeks - what's happening at Waffling Taylors HQ, our streams, the chill hangout, and some of the slight tweaks to the shows format. We also drop some hints on the next few episodes - so stick around for that.
We have a whole section where we give a shout out to the amazing Yuricannes - who you should totally consider working with, because ... well the work on our site speaks for itself. Seriously, go check out some of the art that Yuricannes has put together for us.
