Ars Arcanum

Howdy! This episode had a bunch of weird technical problems, so let me kno wif there's any remaining weirdness! Anyway, we learn a lot this week. We see the future with the help of the Ninth Metal, Atium, then have a real fuckup of a heist as Kelsier nearly leads a 16 year old girl to her death. What a father!

We're back! And we moved! This week we are coming at you from Chicago with a whole host of book talk (it's been a little extra time since the last one and we've been busy) then we dive into a somewhat lukewarm set of chapters! We talk about religion more than Brandon seems to want to, complain about his naming conventions, and ponder the Euthyphro dilemma!

Hiya! This one is coming at you a bit late because of our move but rest assured the next episode is already in the can. This time around we talked about the introduction of the Terrismen, a quick rundown of the eight basic metals, and mistwraiths! They're just weird guys!

Autumn got home from work and was very tired so we just neglected to talk about Brandon Sanderson and instead just talked about what else we had been reading. And then.................... that ran for two hours lol. It's a very good episode where we talk about a LOT of different things, I hope you all enjoy it! Back in two weeks with hopefully a more normal episode.

Oh also, if you care, I shit talked The Lies of Locke Lamora a bunch in this episode but then I read the rest of it between then and uploading this episode tonight and actually that book rules. Really good book.

We're baaack! And recording from abroad! So if we sound different that's why. This time around we get to learn more about Allomancy and Kelsier, as well as see Brandon do his best to write about the fear of abuse from the perspective of a teenage girl. Why the FUCK is Kelsier barefoot?

Don't tell anyone this one is late! It's because I quit my job and wasn't paying attention to anything else. So thank you so much, patrons. Hopefully the big move goes smoothly.

Anyway we finally begin Mistborn: The Final Empire! It's a rough start, as we begin with maybe the worst prologue Brandon has written. It's just weird and uncomfortable. But after that we get to hang out with a cool girl with magic powers and the charming criminal who's going to adopt her. Heists!

Hoo boy. Okay. Well, we did it. We finished Elantris and all its little additional bits. We also read SO many things in the past 2 weeks holy shit. This is a long one for us! Please enjoy our takedown of 2005 Brandon's Inexplicable ego.

Next time we will be reading the deleted Mad Prince scenes and the 10th Anniversary Postscript, and sharing some thoughts about Brandon's Elantris annotations from 2005!

It's getting hot and heavy in Elantris this week! We get a truly bizarre and frantic set of chapters that leave us wishing the rest of the book had this level of energy. We also pitch you on our new Lord of the Rings podcast but get the days wrong. It goes up on Sundays! Anyway, this book is so weird and we're really glad to be on our way out of it. What do you mean "Elantris short story"

We want emails! Send your emails for the end-of-book mailbag episode to [email protected] or [email protected] as you prefer. We only have 2 episodes left! Plus an additional episode for the sequel short story, but y'know.
