Hello friend! Today’s episode is unusual - it’s actually the intro video for a groupI’ve just created.

For a long time I've had the dream of supporting and hosting a group for people who would like to bring some intention to their lives, and create meaning and fulfillment in their lives.

So, I finally did.

I had thought Substack (where this show is hosted, if you’re listening in your favorite pod app) would be the platform where that would happen.

As much as I love Substack, which is truly great for hosting this newsletter and show, in all its iterations with interviews and silliness and wonder, this platform isn't as interactive as I wished.

For example if you want to share something into our community here, you must do that in response to something I have created – this platform does not allow you to create your own posts (or at least not in a way that I have found after more than a year of looking!)

I've wished for a place where you wonderful people who are part of my world, part of my community, could meet each other. Spend time with each other. Also, I have wished for a place to host courses for those of you who would like that.

When I realized that Art Creativity & Wellbeing wasn't going to be the place where all of this could happen, I felt something shift.

A new way opened. I'm excited to share it with you today!

The video above is the intro video to my new group, called Dreamers and Doers. It's over in Skool, a platform that allows for everything I was wishing for here – opportunities for members to share and get to know each other, ask questions, be together, really feel in community.

How cool is this – our (AI) friends at Notebook.LM made this Deep Dive about my idea for changing systems that we don't like!

A few weeks ago I wrote an article at Pathfinders.social on this very topic, how to change a system that we don't like. Today you'll hear our friends talk about this method and how to make it work for you, if there is a system or systems that you'd like to change.

I sure had fun playing with this AI technology. Somewhere in the middle you'll hear one of the hosts' voices adopt an Australian accent! I have no idea how that happened but it did make me laugh.

I've learned that AI can be fun and playful. I know not everyone feels this way. Which is why it feels important to say: unless I say differently, as I'm doing today, all the content you read and hear and see here is human made including the art.

So I invite you to relax into this one and give yourself permission to consider: are there systems you wish were different? What we talk about here today is a sustainable way to do that.

Questions I’ve Been Asked

Okay! Here are the answers to the questions:

1. Was this a scam? – No :) Instead of a scam the creation of this yuge art commission was an example of trust and commitment.

2. How did you do this? How did you bring it about – did you advertise? Was it word-of-mouth? – The majority of today's episode is the story of how it happened. So I'll allow you to listen and enjoy that!

It can be summed up in the following five points, so read on for the quickie version:

How I Brought This About

1. I cultivated creative enjoyment every day. For at least an hour at first, and then early this year I upped that to two hours per day of creative enjoyment.

2. I asked. I mean this in a cosmic sense. I was open to the possibilities without understanding exactly how everything would happen, just knowing that something fun would happen. It always does!

3. I gave and received trust "for no reason." I did this because generosity, enjoyment and trust are my defaults. They also happen to be wonderful in a professional, creative sense because people enjoy doing business with people they trust.

4. I brought Kindhearted Purposeful Leadership – and commitment – to the process of envisioning and negotiating this commission. Click here to see the LinkedIn profile of my dear colleague and leadership partner in crime, Dr. Patricia Burlaud.

5. Same as the first… I cultivated the daily practice of enjoyment. And that's your challenge. See below!

Your Creative Challenge

.. cultivate at least one hour each day this week of creative enjoyment.

This is enjoyment where you're in solitude and you are not consuming but creating. Can be writing or art; can be cooking or dancing; can be walking or hiking or taking a bath or lying in a favorite spot looking out at the sky.

Be bold and give yourself this gift! Remember… If I can do it, literally anyone can do it. :)

Back when I did not have a clear understanding of the values that I held most dear, it's no coincidence that I didn't feel like a creator.

It turns out: one of my most deeply held values is Freedom. I was not giving myself permission to feel like a creator.

How do your most deeply held values align with your self, and your view of yourself as a creator?

Today I'm taking you into an exercise that's helpful in those times when you feel like you could use a compass to stay centered amidst the disruption. Best of all – you provide the compass! It's in you.

1. What are your (3 to 5) most deeply held values? What's most important to you, when are you at your most joyful? If it's challenging articulating your values… They'll show up in your responses to those two questions.
