  • Joy to the World! The Lord Is Come - SOPRANO 2 | Arr Sean Paul

    The famous Christmas carol "Joy to the World" was written by English hymn writer Isaac Watts in 1719 as a lyrical adaptation of Psalm 98. Surprisingly, it was not originally intended to be a Christmas song, but rather a celebration of Christ’s future, triumphant second coming. Over a century later, American composer Lowell Mason paired the lyrics with a triumphant, energetic melody inspired by George Frideric Handel, cementing it as North America's most published holiday hymn.

    In 2003, the world premiere of The Veil of the Temple by Sir John Tavener transformed London's Temple Church into an unforgettable all-night musical vigil. Lasting around 7 hours, it's widely regarded as one of the longest continuous choral works ever written.
