The second sermon in the Crossroads series focuses on our families, so it is only natural that our feature would be Bethany Lutheran Preschool news from our director, Tonia Fasick, as well as music from Bethany's contemporary group, C2W (Created 2 Worship). 

Regular guests of Bethany's worship services may have missed this sermon that was preached on March 1 - the day of a nasty ice storm in Northern Virginia.  This podcast begins a new series called "At The Crossroads: A Journey of Faith through The Gospel of Mark".  In between some sermon notes and the sermon is an anthem played on the organ and piano for Bethany's worship.

The final sermon in the "Casting Call" series examines the practice of tithing in the church, today.  What is it, and why do we do it?  Also, in the feature segment of the podcast you will hear what it is like to visit our "Fast and Prayer" service powered by African Immigrant Ministry at Bethany Lutheran Church.  There is a lot of singing and some of the meditation and prayer that go into this service, and it gives you an idea of the worship that happens every Sunday at 1PM. 

Apologies in advance that this week's music is hard to hear.  To make it up, there is a nice rendition of "Amazing Grace" at the end of the sermon.  Pastor Joseph B. Davis provides sermon three of "Casting Call" as we consider being a "Treasure Hunter" in the Lord's Kingdom. 

O.K., Trekies - the opening gag is for you! As hinted in the opening, there is a discussion all about "alleluia!" in the feature, music from the Hosanna choir (which is all "alleluia!").  Also, there is the second sermon in the "Casting Call" series preceeded by a brief note about the sermon title, "The Steward".  Yes, there is also a bonus song performed by Bethany's C2W band you will want to hear "Everyday".  

This podcast is jammed as we start a new semon series, "Casting Call" all about the roles we play as we give of what we have for Kingdom work.  The music feature has a special song written and performed by members of C2W (Created 2 Worship).  I give a short commentary to the question of "contemporary or traditional" service in that feature, plus a few sermon notes.  The Rev. Joseph B. Davis, Bethany's mission pastor is the preacher for "The Giver" and if you stick around until the end, you are rewarded with some more C2W music. 

You won't hear a lot of introduction from me as I put this podcast together while fighting with a cold, so my kids help me out at the beginning and then we go right into service music from Februrary 1st at Bethany Lutheran (www.bethany-lcms.org) and a sermon all about demon possession and deliverance. 

The last part of the "Disciples" series has me on the go, following the Apostle Paul on the road where he was converted, baptized and then sent out.  I also cover the blizzard of activity in store for Bethany Lutheran this Feburary.  Plus, music from the Bethany Bells and C2W (Created 2 Worship).

Marching for Life, this week, I still managed to get out this podcast which has the third "Disciples" sermon, "Confessing Disciples" along with music from the Trinity Handbells and a short series of interviews from the 42nd March for Life on the National Mall, including Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod President, Rev. Matthew Harrison! 

Episode two of the "Disciples" series looks at making disciples through Baptism.  I give some examples of what that looks like in a church in the sermon while C2W (Created 2 Worship) supplies the music.  Also, a short feature all about Small Group Bible Study at Bethany.  I was in such a hurry to put this episode together, I forgot to mention that I am the pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church located at 2501 Beacon Hill Road in Alexandria, Virginia.
