We are still in the Christmas afterglow with this first podcast of 2015.  Relive some of the Christmas celebrations with music selections of "Silent Night" and "Joy to The World" and then "Greet The Swiftly Changing Year" with Bethany's Hosanna Choir.  A new sermon series begins with this episode that is all about following Jesus into the New Year. 

Christmas is closing in us at Bethany Lutheran and you will hear some more preparation from our Preschool, music from C2W and the King's Ringers and more details of our Christmas services along with the final sermon in the "Chapter One."  series.

We continue to prepare for Christmas at Bethany Lutheran Church as Santa makes an appearance at the beginning of this podcast.  After that, we have more ADVENTure in Alexandria, the 2014 Sunday School service, an introduction to Jesus in the Gospel of John and a solo voice singing "I Wonder as I Wander."

The second sermon in the "Chapter One" series introduces Jesus in the Gospel of Mark. Plus Christmas preparation at Bethany, music from the Hosanna Choir for Advent and an ADVENTure in Alexandria, Virginia. 

Happy New Year!  This is the first podcast of a new church year and a new sermon series that shows how the four Gospels introduce Jesus.  It is hard to believe that this podcast is close to a one year anniversary.  In the feature for this episode, we'll take a look back and a look ahead to 2015, plus you'll hear all about the special Advent and Christmas journey we've put together at Bethany Lutheran.  All this, plus "Quicken Us" by the Allelu Singers and "From Heaven Above to Earth I Come" which was our organ prelude for the First Sunday in Advent. 

It's the "End of the World" in view for this special podcast featuring not one, but TWO sermons based on the parables in Matthew 25.  There is also music from our Trinity Handbells and Allelu Singers after each message. 

Episode 6 concludes "The Church Series" where we learned all about the character and the location of the church, today.  The last sermon is titled "The Church in Glory" and was recorded on All Saints Sunday.  There is also music from that service as well as a short interview with the three consultants who came to Bethany Lutheran for the next phase of our "Congregational Renewal". 

It's "Onward!" for Christian soldiers as episode 5 in "The Church Series" takes a look at the church's struggles on earth.  There is also some music from Reformation Sunday (a day of Lutherans celebrating their heritage) and part two of "Uncanny Alexandria" - a look at some strange and unusual history around Alexandria, Virginia. 

"The Church Series" episode 4 shares the recorded sermon and music from October 19.  Also, a new series of recorded visits to area historic sites begins with "Uncanny Alexandria: Mad Science at the Apothecary".  The music is supplied by the Bethany Bells and Linda Hemphill on Bethany Lutheran's organ.  Prayer points before the sermon focus on the church and our mission in the world.   

I'm catching up to myself a bit with episode 3 of "The Church Series" - a sequence of sermons that examines life in the Body of Christ.  This sermon is called "Joyful Church", and I hope you will find that theme of "JOY" all the way through from our ministry segment with Pastor Davis giving a praise report from our African Immigrant Mission, to songs from the Allelu Singers and Created 2 Worship to the sermon from Philippians 4.
