  • Ep. 131: Daxon Levine
    Daxon Levine
Dax Levine loves epic fantasy, but he didn’t expect to become a full-time professional Dungeon Master entertaining clients from all over the world. He started as a lowly theater kid and improv performer who leveled up by earning his Bachelor of Science in Psychology and his Master of Business Administration. In early 2020, he founded Dungeon Master Direct to professionally host online Dungeons & Dragons campaigns as a side hustle, but four months later he had to quit his day job to keep up with the accelerated demand for his brand of epic storytelling! He now manages an entire team of professional Dungeon Masters, teaches his skills online and at conferences, and writes novels on the side. He lives in Utah with an old border collie and his lovely wife. They are raising two children whom he hopes will also grow up to be professional nerds someday.

  • HW Diaries Part 7: Sweet Dream
A breakdown of the writing, meaning, and hidden treasures in the seventh track of my new album "The Hallowed Wide" out on all streaming platforms now!
Sweet Dream is track #7 (the halfway point) in my fantasy concept record The Hallowed Wide. I wanted this to feel like a turning point in the story. Like a weird epiphany. The dream is so colorful and breathtaking, and suddenly we realize the world is breathtaking, too. The simple fact that every person is a whole separate person is a totally bizarre and fairly magical reality we too easily forget.
Remembering how the stranger in the dream shatters into flowers…we can remember to see the brokenness of our fellow humans as its own kind of beauty—fractures of a wholly unique soul. I find that empathy gets a lot easier when I can manage to be genuinely curious about how completely individual each person is. And I can let it feel enchanting and sacred because it quite simply IS.

  • Ep. 130: Shiloh Nyce
Shiloh Nyce is an Indigenous female screenwriter and actor from the Haisla Nation on the Northwest Coast of Canada. Her First Nations name is Mah-gwees, meaning "snag on the beach". The Pacific Ocean and forest were her childhood playgrounds which has had significant inspirational influence on her artistry. She attended MacEwan University in Edmonton, Canada, where she received her Theatre Performance Degree and then went on to receive her Bachelor’s Teaching Degree in Theater & Music from BYU-Idaho. Shiloh soon transitioned her stage practice to film with acting credits including Lakes 7 and the Golden Gun, The Life of Jesus Christ, and Maggie to name a few. In 2016 Shiloh founded the Salt Lake Actors Studio; a workshop that provided free performance education for the acting community.
Shiloh then took time off to re-establish her roots in Haisla Territory. During this experience she realized she could play a role in keeping her history and culture alive through story. Shortly after, she had two personal dreams given to her that eventually became the foundations for her short film scripts; Hear Him and One Who Knows. In late 2020, Shiloh was accepted to WIFTV’s Tricksters and Writers Program in Canada, a film writing scholarship for Indigenous women. She was instructed by Indigenous female filmmakers and under their tutelage wrote One Who Knows, which was then selected to be read live at the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival and is presently still receiving several festival selections and wins. Shiloh is currently working to direct One Who Knows and adapt it into a children’s book (to be published in 2022). She also has plans to write and direct her newest story, The Matriarch into a feature length film. Presently, she lives in Midvale, UT with her husband and 3-year-old daughter.

  • HW Diaries Part 6: Split
A breakdown of the writing, meaning, and hidden treasures in the sixth track of my new album "The Hallowed Wide" out on all streaming platforms now!
Split is a song about an even deeper kind of surrender. At the beginning of the story, we surrendered a bit of comfort for the promise of a something greater…but here we reckon with the heavy grief of change and reinvention. This is the empty feeling you have when you’ve left behind the person you used to be, but you’re not yet sure exactly who you might become. You’re exhausted, and while you aren’t sure what is ahead, you’re only looking forward. You no longer have even the faintest desire to turn back. It wouldn’t be possible anyway.

  • Ep. 126: Malory Curtiss Christensen
My name is Malory Christensen. I was born in Montana, but raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. I graduated from Westminster College with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree: with an emphasis in Ceramics, and a Minor in Psychology.
Upon my completion at Westminster, I moved to Seattle, Washington to pursue a graduate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, with a specialization in Art Therapy. Having earned my Master's Degree from Antioch University, I moved back home to Utah, and am working as an Art Therapist and Marriage and Family Therapist.
In my free time I love exploring different art mediums and challenging myself to try new things. Art has always been a way for me to relax and de-stress and is one of the best coping tools I have found. While they are complex, the tedious process in which I apply my patterns has always been therapeutic for me.
