Sometimes, we just get stuck. “Writer’s Block” or general lack of inspiration… it can feel immobilizing. This week, we talk about 3 practical strategies to get through the block and start creating again.

As artists, we’re often obsessed with the “product” we’re making. “Is it perfect?” “Is it something I think my audience will connect with?” “Do I have all the resources I need?” “Do I feel great about this?” But what if we could break free from those immobilizing questions and move forward? Sometimes, we pit these 2 things against one another — like we have to stand up for ourselves OR be kind to others. But kindness and tenacity aren’t in conflict. They are two traits that are powerful when possessed side by side.

When we’re working on commissioned work or coming alongside another artist for a collaboration, we could be served by asking the question, “Am I being asked to be an artist or a craftsperson?”

Missing the mark is baked into the process of finding what works. Like shooting a dart at a board, we don’t usually hit a bullseye the first time we ever throw a dart. This week, we talk about the process of enduring mistakes until we find what works.
