where our Savior bled for all our sins,

when your dreams were smashed to smithereens,
asking God above to replay every scene,
so they wouldn't turn out bad.
Have you ever wrung your hands in pain,
after trying so hard, again and again,
but the end result always comes out the same,
and you hang your head in shame.

Embedded in the trunk of an old Oak tree,
hangs his bike he chained there in "17"
when he went off to fight
against the German Huns,
turning rusted and old as
the tree grew around,
it's pedals and chain
three feet off the ground,
leaving a haunting remind
I wish we'd take all of the guns,
and the cannons and the missiles
that could kill someone, and chain
them to trees all across the earth,
then spend our years living peacefully
as they vanished forever gracelessly
into the trunks of trees that reach full girth.
Embedded in trenches bulldozed closed,
lie the bodies of young men decomposed,
with their bones trapped forever
where tree roots have grown.

where the unknown lie,
in foreign soil where they fell and died,
to preserve the freedoms
we've all come to know.
