Life is a journey,
that starts off
with faltering steps,
when we're all tiny tots,
just learning to walk,
to all the places
we haven't been yet.
We join the human race
in that innocent place,
from the womb to
our teenage years,
on a really long walk
full of stumbling blocks
trying to blend in with our peers....
where we run and we laugh,
and we dance and we play,
greeting the sun each day,
while we keep chasing dreams
that burst apart at the seams
all along the way....
Then as teenagers
we fall in love
sharing long walks
with someone who,
makes every step a
delight, both day and night,
each time they whisper,
"I Love You!"
Bt even young love
holds a walk of pain
and a walk of shame as well,
Puppy love doesn't last,
It goes by you so fast,
it's just practice for
Love's sweeter spells,
Till we take a longer walk
in the shoes of adults,
with a freedom that
we never knew,
and if you take the right path,
you'll find love that lasts
and a heart to share
that's always true......
But there's also divorce,
and bad love brings remorse,
where the courts hand
walking papers to you,
even jobs can be cruel,
cutting work forces in two,
and leaving you to
face your blues....
Soon your long walk grows meaner,
suddenly you're a senior,
taking faltering steps,
where you're not so adept,
as your toddlerhood long ago...
Your last walks can inspire,
or lead you down paths of fire,
long after you retire,
and it's time to go......
But then your long walks are done,
and your new journey's begun,
and you'll smile at
all the joy it brings....
cause there'll be
no more walks
you'll find no stumbling blocks,
cause God is going
to give you wings,
to fly up above
and find eternal love....

I plucked that daisy,
though it drove me crazy,
ever optimistic
and yet realistic,
I pulled each petal free,
each one held a promise
for a doubting Thomas,
praying the last said....
that "She Loves me!"

Nature's fortune flower
granting mortals power
to discern what
love might yield,
in a vast green field
where the truth's revealed
with each soft
petal I peeled.

Round that sacred spot
past "she loves me not"
seven times plus seven more,
with my eyes half closed
to hide truth exposed
about a girl that I adored.

She was the flower
who graced the alleyways
of my dark and lonely days
all my hopes stemmed from
that petal yet to come,
as I pulled the rest away.

Alas that final ticket
bent in velvet white

From The Wreck Of A Text.
I went out just yesterday
headed off to meet my pretty babe,
She was my dream, my every thing
but now that all has slipped away.
My phone vibrated suddenly,
I fumbled for it eagerly,
So sure that it was her next text to me
Something important I should see….
Chorus-
But it don’t matter anymore
What that text I got was for,
Cause now I’m laid out in a drawer
Where it don’t matter anymore….
As I bent to open up her words,
the squeal of brakes was all I heard,
I dropped my phone and tried to swerve,
I’d crossed the line on a sharp curve…..
A huge Mac truck slammed into me,
My seat belt broke and I flew free…
The windshield smashed against my face
And all my features were erased,
Then I broke the driver’s window,
my car had turned into a spindle,
I was ejected and then
crushed beneath its weight,
where I was left to suffocate.
One of the last things that I saw
Was that damn text lying
Close to my broken Jaw,
It wasn’t from her it was
just a damn sales pitch,
and then the Reaper came to call.

What that text I got was for,
Cause now they’ll bury me
at twenty years of age

some befitting Bible page.

The Beauty And The Bruiser
She was more than my
imagination could ever conceive…
She could have stepped right off
of the pages of Playboy magazine.
And then she caught my eyes
like two butterflies
in the net of her beauty
as she passed me by…
and when she smiled at me
I had reasons to wonder why.
Cause she got cozy with some bruiser
Who stood about six foot five…
He’d caught that show
that she put on for me
And he shot me an evil eye,
But when he started
abusing her verbally
And was twisting on her arm,
I knew I’d have to make some adjustments his charm.
So I slid off of my barstool
While he was yammering in her ear,
And I disappeared into the crowd,
where I slipped up on his rear.
Then I twisted his arm
up with my left hand
And rammed my right arm in his crotch,
While he danced in pain
and his voice went up a notch.
Then I walked His big ass tippy-toed
to the bouncer at the door,
and he went along quite willingly
riding my right arm, saddle sore,
then we tossed him out into the street
and we warned him to beat feet,
or our fists and his big ugly face were
going to do a meet and greet.

Marilyn and Joe.
Marilyn and Joe were an enigma
Both trapped in that show business stigma,
of a most famous Hollywood love,
she had the utmost of beauty
he was the King of the diamond he graced,
setting records no one could replace
but never finding what
they both dreamed of.
Chorus-
Here was a love that was made in heaven
Something precious that all men would crave,
But Joe couldn’t handle the peddling
Making his sex goddess, a Hollywood slave,
So he lost the one girl he would cherish,
In a game of love he couldn’t save,
Where a hit wouldn’t win her,

As his grand slam love just slipped away
but for all of the rest of his days,
he left a red rose on her grave.

She was slinky….
with a spring in her step,
that bounced the coils in her hair
around an ocean of depth,
in her blue eyes that gazed at me
as she walked by,
she had me feeling like
the very first time I got high.
Then she paused at my car window
and she smiled at me,
and we spent some time
together conversationally….

Just a passing fancy that
I couldn't let pass
She jumped in my car
and chose to skip her college class,
Then as I drove away fast
she scooted next to me,
And the rest is just a chapter
in Love’s history.
She was slinky
on that bright Spring day
With a spring in her step

that I’ve ever had….
Her dad was anything but slinky
when I was introduced,
