But all he ever did was get stoned
he fumbled with a guitar
but he never got far
and he died all alone.
She wanted to be a Doctor
she never made the grade
she spent ten long years
enduring her tears
and she wound up a Nurses Aide.
But dreams are elusive
sometimes they slip away
if you don't cling to then tightly
there is a price to pay.
So if you're out chasing dreams
Run hard and don't you dare tire
cause they are waiting for you
just around that bend
if you keep stoking the fires
and they will burn much higher
Our maker put us here
to make the best of Ourselves.

He's a wise old man
who chose to tell me,
tales of horror that
he'd once lived through,
simply pulling up his sleeve,
he made me believe,
by the numbers
on his arms tattooed.
part of his punishment
for being a jew!
With four bullet scars across his body,
left by S.S. Troops and evil Nazi's
the perfect candidate for paparazzi,
to print fiction from what he claims true.
Then as the memories
in his head reassembled,
his lower lip began to tremble,
as he whispered of his missing family,
that he hasn't seen since 43...
He was the youngest
child in the Holocaust,
Just a tiny toddler then,
with an ugly past,
and as survivors go
he'll probably be the last,
so he shouted out in agony......

If your government mistreats you
hear what I have to say,

March 29, 2024 "Never Diddle, Diddle With The Moon." by-Chris Bright & Matthew F. Blowers III
I placed the moon in my pocket,
where it's large craters nestled,
against the curves of my manly orbs,
but I could not catch the sun.
I tried most of the next day
but various distractions,
left me without it's cheery warmth.
Some over sized cow kept jumping
across my left thigh,
with his back legs
kicking off my 409's.
A very daft dog was howling
at my polka dotted boxers,
like Snoopy on some
Woodstock leftovers,
sporting a tiny bag and pipe.
Siamese kittens were serenading me
with fiddles, in stereo renditions
of fingernail moons across chalkboards,
until at long last this lovely dish,
rolled by in a 69 mustang convertible
with a spoon to her runny nose.
I hopped in and we chased the sun,
over the horizon to where,
the moon and I soon parted ways,
in some out of pocket expanses.
Her moons were by far much nicer,
needless to say I don't diddle
with things universal anymore,
those kind of rocks can put
a crack in one's dawn.

Empty fingers
curl around air,
10 digits in a row
slightly bowed.
relaxed but vacant
they hang.
Once they held
a tiny infant's hand
and marveled at the sight,
Pounded life
into a dying man
cleared his airs passageway,
saved two more... lost three,
one a tiny child rescued.
Walked miles
thru yellow pages
turned the plots
in lots of books
always wishing I could
read one of my own.
Entered the ecstacy
of many lovely women
and moved them
across my palm,
telling their fortunes
in loud sighs and whispers.
Pulled triggers,
tossed dice,
played guitars and
rode them in a fret.
Held hands and
took lovely walks
on beaches long
since eroded.
Counted to five
when I was but that.
Slapped high fives,
Slapped the skin on some
tambourines and bongos,
Slapped some corn out of
a choking man's throat,
Created thousands of
miniature sculpures,
painted canvas
gripping a brush,
just enough to stroke
some sellable genius
on pieces I mastered.
Played with many puppies
delighted a lot of cats
with that special scratch.
Stopped the bleeding in
numerous holes,
couldn't stop up
Jesus's though,
for I was part
of the cause.
Left fingerprints on many
a bar glass and bottle.
Stuck my hands
in strange places
and retrieved a
ot of grief.
Waved at so
many passing
some who have
long since passed on.
I Shook the hands
of common men
strong hands... work hands
shook the hands of celebrities
soft ...refined,
who looked like
they were so far
above the natural primal
things that ordinary
folks do daily.
but I've changed
they are humans just like us.
I've even changed
over 1800 diapers
and the crasp
for both is all the same.
It all goes to shit you know,
leaving empty fingers curled
around nothing..but air.
Held cigarettes and joints
staining the tips of my fingers
and fingerpainting my mind.
Helped little ones draw...
Saved a puppy from
drowning in an icy pond
up against his Rotwieller mom
who was hoping for a flesh wound.
Opened mail and
penned poems
by the thousands.
Silenced men in
dangerous places
with a finger on my lips.
Played war and shot
the neighbor kids
with my finger
bang...bang....
you're dead
they fell...
empty fingers clutching air.
Sprinkled dirt
in countless graves
and a few POW
braceletts as well.
Stood in Arlington
and wiped many tears,
a ragged stream.
Dialed my mother often
now there is no answer
Had to sign the order
to remove her from life support.
fingers shook that day...
heart stopping tremors.
she's beyond my
fingers touch now,
My fingers have done
so many endless tasks,
10 digits times
a trillion moves,
cartiledge lubricated
against bone.
Knuckle sandwiches
I've cracked,
But in the end it's just
empty fingers,
curled around air.
Yet what they
leave behind,
whom they touch,
how they help,
and the many hopes
they are able to move
fill that space...
long after they are but
empty bones
in a satin box
curled around nothing

a terrible disease
it won't make you itch
or cough and sneeze....
but it comes with a rash
rash descions that skew
attitudes and moods
into solitude.
Crippling your soul
and wounding your heart
destroying desires
to make new starts....
it's contagious for two
who've decided to part,
And the cure
is a struggle
when you're no
longer coupled
finding new love's
a puzzle.....
loneliness is a muzzle
But all the
pieces are there
disconnnected they wait,
as you pick up
new choices
in your search
for a mate,
and so many will be
the wrong fit
for your needs
just more
incomplete love
as your soul
again bleeds,
But there is
someone out there
who's as eager
to share
the cure of true love
beyond all compare
all the beauty
that's crafted,
into something
that lingers
far beyond lust
or passion
one night flings,
casual swingers
twenty interlocked fingers,
and then four
lips connected
bringing love far
more precious
then you'd
ever expected.
Loneliness
has a cure,
Love can always
come back
but the healing
can lead you
to many false
hopes and Quacks
the joining is crucial
tightly seamed,
sealing cracks
till the joy

holds no need
