February 23, 2024 Deep In The Interior Of A Forest-by Ingvar Tautra & Matthew F. Blowers III
I got lost in a forest
but I didn't mind
it was like taking a long step
back to some other time
while the birds sang thier chorus
lovely notes so sublime
the sun beamed down its warm rays
through the filters of pines.
as I searched out a place
to a camp I'd call mine
for I had a backpack
and my favorite guitar
one must be prepared
when you don't know where you are
and I had a compass
or I could follow the stars
when it came time for me
to go back to my car
You see, marked trails
never thrilled me
I had traveled quite far
so I pitched my small tent
and opened flaps to help vent
the sweet breeze of nature~~~~~~
to cool me while I dreamt.
then I gathered some wood
and took stock of my food
dehydrated packs
each with flavors imbued
offering meals hot and tasty
when hot water was brewed
and I had plenty of water
it was my greatest weight
then I gathered up kindling
for when the hours grew late
then I sat on a log
that was cut long ago
and started playing my guitar
in a one man show
deep in the interior
of a most lovely forest
where I was inferior
at Survival, "the poorest"
But the music it soothed me
echoing through the trees
harmonizing with nature
blending with birds and bees
Then I noticed some Raccoons
and a small herd of Deer
paused in their daily walks
as if they wanted to hear.....
what this strange
newfound sound was
they all stood with "no fear."
and I saw a small bear cub
stopped to hear my first riff
and I sat there and wondered
where his Mom was....what if??
but he dashed off to play
happily leaping away
as three squirrels
and a chipmunk
took his place on that day.
a small moge pit of creatures
listening to my show
till they left to
find thier own food
leaving me in a strange mood
sad to see them all go
but the magic remained.
of that wondous moment
my getting lost brought them to me
offering me their condolence.
The next morning I hiked back
and packed up my car
realizing that I was
Nature's latest of stars
entertaining some creatures
who would never draw close to
a human in the deep woods
but for the music they chose to
And I'll never forget
their show i was a host to
their show i was a host to........

“RECOVERY???”
It was so much fun
in the beginning
doing drug and alcohol
and I eagerly answered their call
never thinking I would fall
but then things got worse.
It took most of my income
my bills were not paid
and my addiction
became a curse
those I loved abandoned me
they could not stand to see
all my bad habits making
a monster out of me
I begged and borrowed
and stole from them
in ways that made them bleed
till I could no longer be trusted
and I got busted
and put in recovery
Recovery is more painful
than any other disease
drugs need to eat a hole
right through your soul
when they cannot be pleased
I fled from it too many times
and did some stints in prison
then violated my probation
as I sunk into Damnation...
with a Judge who wasn’t lenient
I begged but he wouldn’t listen
and back to prison I was driven.
I was sodomized and suffered
from convicts who dealt cruel blows
that broke my teeth and wounded me
Horrors no human should know
Horrors no human should know
I lost my house, my car, my life
by chasing highs to lows
and when I finally was released
I was forced to live
out there on the streets
begging for some change
to help me meet
addictions that
wouldn’t let go!
I am forty now, I lost my youth
I can’t even find a lover
And I’ve finally learned
the terrible truth
That I may not recover
The demon on my back is cruel
I cannot shake his claws
His goal is simply to break me
he tortures without a pause
recovery’s a useless cause
I’m just meat in his strong jaws...
They will bury me
in a potters field
In an unmarked grave
cause I could not yield
under a numbered stone
that will not reveal
my name in
Real Estate unreal
Perhaps my story
cold and bleak
will sway those
who are seeking
a life of drugs and alcohol
you must pay heed
to what I’m speaking

On The Voyage Of Life......
Loneliness is a cancer
it eats away at the soul,
Love is a tumor cured
when two merge,
but then far too often
circumstances
necessitate removal
of one from the other,
there follows a remission,
a feeling of relief
till the loneliness,
the cancer returns.
Friendship is a lifeboat,
for all who are drowning
in an ocean of saline tears,
when love is abandoned
and one's heart is sinking
friends wait on each side
where one floundering
can be lowered
into their embrace,
and carried away from
the depths of grief.
Love is an island,
of pristine beaches,
where two are always two,
and one is never spoken,
where the fruits of joy
are abundant....
and easy to reach.
It takes many friends,
plus one special person
to reach this place.
and it takes time.
so much time
Love requires following
the right course....
relying on friends,
and anchoring oneself
in just the right place.
Many have been
lost along the way,
but it is within
the grasp of all.
I hope you find
that bay of bliss,

We are not always right
we’ve had our differences
where the music of our love
it filled with dissonance
and the heat of our passion
became refrigerant
but such troubles between lovers
can be so insignificant
because any love that’s righteous
holds sweet reverence
and you will always
be my preference
to any flaws we share
we should give deference
We are not always right, Baby
but it’s better than being left
bereft in a cleft of separation
by words, we said that were
taken with misinterpretation
True love knows such situations
and frustration but salvation
comes in a re-embracing
of what brought us together

Just me and some memories with my old guitar
and a Tascam digital recorder. But I can imagine
how this song would sound with a full kick-ass
band backing it all up. Yet still I write without.

I can barely remember Hotel Haze,
in a suite occupied by five rockers,
lost in the blues of a song and a bong,
all sprawled like loose-jointed puppets,
on cushions and shag,......
playing unplugged riffs
to fill up all the what if's??
in our show the next night.
We all were young and full of spunk,
the world was our blue oyster cult,
and we suckled it’s meat.....hungrily
knowing someday it would cease to be
as Groupies filled our emptiness
with emptiness filled.......
and we all lived wild and free
Enjoying booze and ganja > : )
on a huge verandah
Just outside our penthouse
floating twelve floors high
an extravaganza
to help our minds wander
with a groupie bonanza
of lovelies by our sides.
Then the scent of
sweat and ozone,
and black velvet shots
greeted us back stage,
after dreamless nights of revelry.
and soon enough the crowds
devoured our inspirations,
burning Bics to call us back,
for an encore,
one last morsel of music,
to carry them off to their real worlds,
as we returned to the Hotel Haze.~~~~~~~
It was long ago on some perfect days
Doing one of many gigs we played
but those memories carry me away
to a place I wish I could’ve have stayed
but real life it destroyed that stage
leaving me just another "Former Rocker"
with sweet memories and rage.

Back Home At Last.
I’ve been all around this crazy world
seen some amazing faces and places
I’ve lived in cities that had no pity
and small towns with kinder gazes
always looking for a place to settle
that would ease my restless heart
I made friends and a few enemies
but I never found a remedy
that begged me never to depart.
never to depart......
There were always girls
who caught my eye
and coaxed me to believe
that I should share the splendid love
they offered me eagerly
and take up residence
where they planned on
living permanently
but that road kept calling to me…,
even though it was so lonely
so damned lonely….
My guitar was my only friend
through my journey’s
bookmarked pages
I wowed the crowds
till each gig’s end
on huge and tiny stages
wailing out the songs
of pain I penned
sharing one night
stands full of pretend
then I’d be gone
around the bend
my time was never overspent
in places I could circumvent.

But now I find I’ve got an itch
that travel will not scratch
all the towns I pass through
look the same
all my wanderlust is ash…..
and there is a place
I haven’t gone
in all the years that
I’ve been moving on
Where I grew up and
learned to craft my songs
where my roots lay
fallow far too long
and though I will not
see my Dad and Mom
I wept and sang at
both their funerals
they are somewhere
in the great beyond
but their lives live on immovable.
and my siblings
will be absent too
all five live somewhere else
but it’s still my hometown where
with joy I’ll wander by myself
Back home where
all my memories
wait patiently for me
where I’ll walk the streets
that once shared the feet
of my friends and family.
And I know back home
I’ll find the peace
that I’ve been searching for
cause I’ve learned that
when you’ve had it all
back home there’s always more.

We live in a world
surrounded by empty
vast acres of emptiness
so we fill the spaces in
inconsequential ways
to some extent
though there are many
who lead fuller lives
most just occupy
the emptiness that
overshadows them
without realizing
that there is
room for expansion
till eventually
they fill a final space
that is then filled
in over them
leaving the world
a bit more empty
then before.

A heart is empty too
when without love
it sits a
hollow vessel
in one's chest
It beats a solo song
and what's replied
are echoes of one
of remorse and loneliness
some hearts are strengthened
by the suffering wrought
when love is vacant
thoughts expand to fill
the ache of emptiness
by comforts penned
with words that move
so many other hearts
to avoid the void
and find fulfillment
in what is shared by two
a vast breathtaking
cherished wonderland
where emptiness is
lessened by the act
of two becoming one
one back turned
to shield two fragile hearts
from hollow dreams
and at long last
filling a space
that's long been denied
thus adding less
to all the emptiness
that always exists
here in our world.
