by-Matthew F. Blowers III
Not quite as blue
as your sapphire eyes,
but bluer than my
soul without you,
as I lay in Forget-Me-Not meadows,
drenched in sun and
just thinking about you.
While I wish I was gazing
not up past the clouds
but into the joy
of your loving smiles.
Soon I rise from my
daydreams and gently toss
a stone in a nearby pond,
watching its ripples turn
to vanishing rings,
till the flow of time calms everything....
and its suffering moves on.....
Chorus-
I am that pebble,
who's not yet settled,
to the level of your loss,
just an outcast and a rebel
where your love's my Albatross,
I am a stone, heading all alone,
to the muck of love's despair,
but as I'm sinking deeper.
I still wonder if you care.
Bridge-
Jet planes high above
me cut vast scars
leaving trails as white as bone
and far below I'm left wondering
if you're on one...heading home.
Chorus-
Leaving me a pebble
not yet settled,
to the level of your loss,
an outcast and a rebel
where your love's my Albatross,
left a stone, headed all alone
to the muck of love's despair,
but as I'm sinking deeper.
I'm still wondering if you care.
Then I turn and walk
the opposite way,
back to my bed where
alone I'll lay,
Much like that pebble
in the bed of a pond,
lost in the darkness
from which you are gone...
Back to the emptiness
paying my dues
Sharing nothing but black
in my house of blues...
swallowed up by the black
in my house of blues
