In today's conversation we are going to learn about bioinformatics - an evolving biotech discipline that uses software to help us better understand biological data. Bionformatics is key to innovation in the current drug discovery process and disease prevention. To that end we are joined by a PhD in Genome Science, based in Tokyo - Eli Lyons, CEO of Tupac Bio. Although Biotech is a highly skilled and technologically driven industry, it can often be slowed by traditional or internally focused worldviews. Angel Investors provide a critical role in the development of any tech ecosystem. Asia's challenge is that it doesn't have the backdrop of risk and depth of exits to create a generation of angel investors as we have seen in the US, Israel or in some parts of Europe. But that doesn't mean Asia doesn't have a worthy Angel network, it's just that it's going through its own growing pains. There are plenty of investors out there claiming to be "Angels" but who offer little value add to startups in terms of attitude to risk, domain knowledge and contacts. In today's ATP we discuss how Asia's Angel Investment network is maturing, where it needs help and, importantly, how startups need to work with this community on favorable terms.

In today's ATP we want to share 4 inspiring stories of entrepreneurs we published this week. Each story features a different path to success, but the theme that unites them all is the same: life begins at the end of your comfort zone. Each of these 4 entrepreneurs featured on ATP Stories consciously chose to leave behind a comfortable, well-known life to embark on an adventure into the world of the unknown. Their ability to get comfortable with the uncomfortable is a critical element to success for any startup. It's that ability to hustle and to thrive in an environment where the rules are unwritten, where nobody tells you what to do, where success or failure ultimately come down to your own actions. Entrepreneurs featured in today's ATP are Marty Roberts (Entouch Japan), Jakob Lykkegaard (Lykke Studios Thailand), Anna Gong (Perx Singapore) and Bart Bellers (Xpdite Ventures Thailand).

Produced by Pikkal & Co - Award Winning Podcast Agency.
We are joined today in the ATP Stories studio by Marty Roberts - CEO of Entouch in Japan, a startup in the medtech / healthtech space. Entouch connects doctors and medical reps through some innovative routing technology. Like myself, Marty is a psychologist like myself (although he is far better qualified). While his business is redefining the pharmaceutical sector, it's might not be obviously apparent how psychology comes into play. But this isn't just about building a cool CRM system for medical reps and doctors, this is about getting a deeper understanding of emotion and motivation. Not only does Entouch connect key players in pharmaceuticals, it also empowers a whole sector of skilled reps who, for personal reasons (too old, just had a child, live outside big city etc) are unable to get back into the traditional workforce but have invaluable skills for medicine. We are going to talk about Marty's journey as an entrepreneur as well as the quite remarkable backstory to how he got there - from starting out as an analyst in Japan (speaking no Japanese) to eventually becoming President of the company.
