    Today we will focus on restorative practice, what it is, and how it plays out on our campuses. We will learn about the history of it and the need to get better at the use of it with our scholars. We will hear from Ms. Kerbow, second grade teacher at Mesquite elementary about the success she has had in scholar behavior using it. We will also hear from Ms. Gabrielle Wallace, administrator at Mesquite’s secondary who has used this practice successfully with children and parents.

    Today's podcast will continue with the ongoing theme that we have talked about before and that is college readiness. College readiness has many different meanings and levels. This week we will talk more specifically about the steps needed to prepare in high school for your first day in college.

    Ms. Natasha Forge, our college and career counselor will share the steps needed to go through to begin the transition from high school to college. We will also hear from Ally Spiel, a senior at Plano, who will share the steps she has gone through to get ready for her first day in college!

    The holidays are coming up and it's time to focus on informing parents on all the reasons to carve out some study time during the upcoming Thanksgiving and Winter Break holidays.

    We'll be sharing tips, resources, and software information we have available to help your child(ren) get ahead and/or stay ahead of the instructional game.

    We will chat with Stacy Maxwell, our software expert and Maria Fernandez, math director about which softwares to use, how to get online, missing passwords, and how to help your children get online.

  • Episode 11: Giving Back
    Today we will learn about the way we are reaching and feeding our families in need. We will have representatives from the North Texas Food Bank, the Collaborative for Fresh Produce, a nonprofit organization that maximizes the amount of surplus produce reaching hungry families and the food banks that serve them, and a Legacy teacher and scholars who are all part of this serving cycle.

  • Episode 10: Puerto Rico and Hurricane Maria
    Today's “Ask Dr. B. Good” podcast will feature some current staff members from Puerto Rico who not only lived through the two hurricanes last year but then taught school afterwards.

    Hurricane Irma brushed past the island on the way to Florida as a Category 5 storm Sept. 6, 2017, and then Hurricane Maria made a direct hit as a Category 4 storm two weeks later, damaging up to 75 percent of transmission lines.

    Come listen to both the adults and their children talk about this terrifying time and how they braved through it leading to living and teaching school without electricity!

  • Episode 9: Preparing for 9th grade college
    On this episode we will be talking about our dual credit partnership with Collin College by meeting Mr. Fred Moses,Board of Trustee member for Collin College. We will also visit with Legacy's College and Career Readiness counselor, Ms. Natasha Forge. She will be sharing the process through which Legacy scholars can begin college with us as early as 9th grade.
    As an additional enrichment for you, we will also talk with Ms. Scholmowitz, mother of last year's Valedictorian who graduated with 52 hours of college credit before going on to get a full ride scholarship to John Hopkins University to become a medical researcher.
