    Ms. Richardson has spent her educational and professional career learning human behavior. Her focus shifted in 2002, to understanding the role the brain plays in human behavior, and how behavior can be modified with the use of neurofeedback and biofeedback. Leigh holds a Master of Science in Counselling from the University of North Texas and is working to integrate cognitive behavioral therapy into the treatment programs for many clients.

Staci Weaver, Global Systems Director at Legacy Preparatory, will train parents to know why it’s important to be very involved in your child’s cell phone life, what apps are especially dangerous, and what websites are available to continue training parents in the latest Internet tricks to lure children into danger. We will also hear from Alabama District Attorney Pamela Casey, a DA who has been relentless in her pursuit of Internet safety for children for many years. She posts videos very regularly to help parents stay one step ahead of the latest Internet apps that put children in danger from predators. We will also provide a chart with the 14 most current dangerous apps for parents to be on guard with their children around their use.

We want to be able to capture the essence that is Legacy in Spanish for our Spanish speaking parents who may not k ow all the things we offer as a Kinder through 12th grade school. We also will be able to have future bilingual teachers who are interested in knowing more about us in their dominants language. If you have a bit of Spanish give us a listen!

We'll first be sharing with you you the research behind why we should encourage our children to be bilingual, then why we chose the dual language program as the structure through which to teach more than one language to our K-5 scholars, and finally, how we go about traveling the world to find them.   • Episode 19: State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness
    Today we will talk about the state assessment, the STAAR, which stands for State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, and is a series of standardized tests used in Texas public primary and secondary schools to assess a student's achievements and knowledge learned in the grade level.
    We will chat with Stacy Maxwell, our district testing coordinator, on the testing logistics for the campuses.She will also talk about the way for parents to best prepare their children for the test weeks in advanced.
    Dr. Mann, our Special Populations Coordinator, will also come back and talk to us about the testing of our special populations, the laws around that and the accommodations and modifications we are allowed to offer our special population children.
    Matt Nielsen, our IT manager for Legacy will talk about the online testing and how we prepare for it. The Texas Education Agency is moving in the direction of testing totally online in the future. What are the implications around that?
    Finally, we will touch on the hot topic of whether parents in Texas can opt out of the STAAR. Stay tuned!

    Today we will revisit the important subject of bullying and add cyber bullying to our discussion. Staci Weaver will share some statistics around cyber bullying- what it is, the laws, and what we are doing to prevent/cut down on it at Legacy. Natasha Forge, our HS counselor will share what is bullying vs inappropriate behavior and Amelia Zambrano, our Plano counselor, will talk about what we are doing to prevent/target bullying at the K-8 grades. Finally, Keshunia Johnson, our Mesquite counselor, will talk about how we find and work with scholars who reports feeling suicidal. We are very fortunate to have such valuable assets at Legacy when it comes to helping our children in social emotional areas.
