These remnants from the early solar system offer crucial insights into its formation and evolution. They vary widely in size, ranging from tiny pebbles to objects spanning hundreds of kilometers. The largest known asteroid, Ceres, is about 940 kilometers in diameter and is also classified as a dwarf planet.
