Caitlin Alyn is definitely one of those people I met on campus maybe once or twice very briefly but we became friends in Los Angeles in and around the comedy scene. She played my club in Austin, the ROMO ROOM and I always love watching her do standup. In this episode we talk about her standup journey a bit but we also discuss her overall feelings about art and motivation to create it. This episode with Ellie Barone is one of my favorite episodes of AtE EVER! I mean it. I had not seen Ellie in almost a decade and this was our first conversation after that friend hiatus. We didn't have a falling out or anything, we just had different paths and didn't keep in touch. It turns out there was a lot I didn't know was going on and the wonderful, talented, beautiful Ellie caught me up on everything. Joe Flanders returns to At The Elephants to talk about his post-pandemic journey to teaching and his desire to make something he loves without thought of what happens next. In his recent position teaching high school, Joe had a pretty harrowing experience with panic attacks that put him the emergency room and then on medical leave from work. He talks about how he got there and how he got back, plus a pretty sobering moment being recognized at the movie theater. That and much more on this week's episode don't miss it!

So much to be said about the multi-talented Shayna Penn! She has stage managed countless things including a huge number of shows on cruise ships. We got into her Jewish background, growing up in South Jersey and how she found theatre. She is also the co-creator of the new LOVEABLE LUCY children's book series so go check THAT out! It's not often that I get someone who out-talks me on this show and I have to say I am grateful for it and I hope, like me, you enjoy listening to Shayna Penn!

Steven Kopp has a tremendous mind and a beautiful heart. We talked about his journey through sobriety and into streaming games on Twitch. This is a truly special episode for me, personally. Not talking to my best friends for years can be tough but I was on the edge of my seat to hear what Steven had been dealing with. I hope that anyone who struggles with addiction gets something out of this episode and if you need help: get it when you're ready. These stories are so important and I thank Steven for sharing it.
