Dan Shulman returns to Sportsnet’s podwaves by pinch-hitting for Ben this week. Dan and Arden discuss why the Yankees seem like a good fit for Marcus Stroman, the Blue Jays minor-league pitching depth, Lourdes Gurriel Jr.’s improvement as a fielder and hitter, Cavan Biggio’s plate discipline and a surprisingly upbeat clubhouse. “It’s the young guys’ […]

  • June 13: Surely the Blue Jays can hit better than this
Why aren’t the Blue Jays hitting? And what to make of their new defensive alignments? Scott MacArthur, host of Blue Jays Talk, joins Ben this week on ATL to discuss all this and more.
“This is like blunt force trauma to the temple. Because the Jays were really really good three or four years ago. Now they’re really really bad. Like they are expansion era bad by record. You and I have not lived this.” – Scott MacArthur

  • June 5: Are the Blue Jays going to lose 100 games?
Will the Blue Jays lose 100 games? Does it matter? And how do Keuchel and Kimbrel impact the Jays? Ben and Shi discuss it all on this week’s ATL.
“The Blue Jays still have 53 games remaining with the Yankees, the Red Sox, the Tampa Bay Rays, the Houston Astros, the Los Angeles Dodgers. That’s a meat grinder of a schedule and if they don’t play well in those games, it’s going to be very difficult for them to avoid 100 losses. We knew a rebuild was going to be tough. We knew a rebuild was going to be hard to live through. But I’m not sure any of us expected it to be quite like this.” – Shi Davidi

“You’re going up against a team like the Rangers or you’re going up against a team like the White Sox and just getting outplayed and beaten in those series. That’s a sign of where the Blue Jays are right now, and a lot of it comes down to pitching.” – Ben Nicholson-Smith

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. arrived to all kinds of fanfare, but now that he’s in the majors he’s struggling. Ben and Arden break down Vlad Jr.’s slow start before addressing the rest of the team.
