In this episode of the Athletic Skills Podcast, we chat to Christopher (CJ) Kindred, a tennis coach who also has a background in Strength & Conditioning.
CJ outlines the four key performance factors in tennis and he emphasises the importance of a balanced combination of these factors for player success. He then goes deep into the importance of footwork and fundamental movements in tennis and shares techniques and drills to develop efficient movement and athleticism, especially for young players. We go discuss practical insights into coaching strategies, including the use of medicine balls, resistance bands, and other specific drills to enhance players' physical and technical abilities and the evolution of warm-up routines from basic exercises to sport-specific drills that enhance athletic performance and injury prevention.
All these points have great insight for tennis coaches and coaches across any other backgrounds with many points transferable across the board.
