  • A Small, Stubborn Town: Life, death and defiance in Ukraine | Andrew Harding
The mesmerising story of how, in the face of a mighty army, ordinary people can say "No."

It's March 2022 and Russian tanks are roaring across the vast, snow-dusted fields of Ukraine. Their destination: Voznesensk, a town with a small bridge that could change the course of the war.

The heavily-armed Russians are expecting an easy fight - or no fight at all. After all, Voznesensk is a quiet farming town, full of pensioners. But the locals appear to have other ideas.

Svetlana, a grandmother with arthritis, reacts in fury when Russian troops turn her cottage into their blood-soaked headquarters. Valentin, a quick-talking lawyer, joins the town's 'Dads Army' defenders, crouching in a trench with an AK47. Meanwhile, 21-year-old Sergei grabs a Molotov cocktail and lies in wait for Russian tanks as they push towards Dead Water Bridge.

The odds are terrible. But a plan is emerging, and there's a chance it could save not just Voznesensk, but the rest of southern Ukraine. Meanwhile, inside the tanks, an inner battle rages. As Russian officer Igor Rudenko prepares to invade, he has a secret. He is Ukrainian himself.

A gripping work of reportage that tells the story of a pivotal moment in Ukraine's war, this is a real-life thriller about ordinary people facing extraordinary circumstances with resilience, humour and ingenuity. Email Solid Gold · For links to buy this book

  • Who Do We Become? | John Sanei
Step boldly into our strange, new world

    Written by John Sanei
    Narrated by the Author

‘I know that what I’ve learnt in the past two years will help me for the rest of my life. My hope is that you will see yourself reflected in my own journey, and . . . consider who you will become in this new world of ours. Who we all might become.’

If you’re suffering from a crisis of meaning, you’re not alone. In this powerful new book, future strategist John Sanei shares how he found ways to cope with the uncertainty that has been all around us in the past two years. Lockdown meant his career came to a screeching halt. He was living with his parents and then had to battle loneliness until he started to reassess who he was and what he wanted from life.

Infused with empathy and personal anecdote, Who Do We Become? explores our individual responsibility to evolve into more decent, dynamic versions of ourselves, our businesses and humanity as a whole – especially in times of crisis.

The book is divided into three sections. In Part 1: ANGUISH, John explores how to courageously mourn the loss of our ‘normal’ pre-COVID world. Part 2: ABNORMAL, shows us how to understand this new environment and recognise that uncertainty is the new normal. Then, in Part 3: ADVENTURE, John provides a toolkit for us to forge out into the new world, to succeed and recognise the signs of rebirth and renewal. Travel with John as he maps out our strange, new world and lays down a path to reframe our thinking, to recognise our discomfort, to survive and thrive. • Here be Dragons | Richard Mulholland
Stop telling stories. Start selling them

    Written by Richard Mulholland
    Narrated by the Author

How to win deals and influence ideas by mastering the eloquent art of storytelling.

The business world is rightly obsessed with the incredible power of a good story. Unfortunately too many of us take that to mean that it is our own story that’s important. It’s not. The magic happens not when we tell our customers the story of our past, but when we sell them a new story of their future. One in which we play a part.

s a salesperson you have two jobs. Job No. 2 of the storyseller is to help clients and customers slay their dragon. Job No. 1 of the storyseller is to help them see their dragon. You win when the dragon that they acknowledge is the one that you can give them the weapon to defeat. Forget USP (unique selling proposition) and embrace the UPS (unique problem that only you can solve).

Here Be Dragons isn’t just a how-to book for the business sales person, it is far more a why-to, and mostly a what-to-do book that will help you drive create growth, improve sales and new business through storytelling. • Wildlife & Warfare | Jane Carruthers [Read by Malcolm Gooding]
    The Life of James Stevenson-Hamilton

    Written by Jane Carruthers
    Narrated by Malcolm Gooding

More than any other individual, James Stevenson-Hamilton can be credited with the creation of the Kruger National Park in South Affica.

In 1902, when the South African War ended, Stevenson-Hamilton swopped his military career for the more uncertain calling of a game warden. Under his supervision the small, neglected and war-ravaged Sabi Game Reserve expanded in stature and size. By the time he retired in 1946, the Kruger National Park had become as one of the great national parks of the world.

The evolution of the Kruger National Park was his life's work but Stevenson-Hamilton kept his many other interests alive. During the First World War he fought in Gallipoli and Egypt. In 1917 he was seconded to a civilian administrative post in the southern Sudan where he remained until 1921. During the late 1920s and 1930s he consolidated the development of the Kruger Park. After his retirement he remained in South Africa and lived with his wife and family near White River in the Eastern Transvaal Listen on Apple Books / iTunes · Email Solid Gold · For links to buy this book

  • Logic of God | Dr. Jean-Marie Jullienne
    Written by Dr. Jean-Marie Jullienne
    Narrated by the Author

This book has its origin in a spiritual calling the author received to find the true meaning of Bible texts by returning to the original Greek and Hebrew scriptures.
During a period of isolation, he was inspired to search the scriptures and compare the original texts with widely accepted translations. Essential value lay in the root analysis of each word. Some words in Greek may comprise as many as four roots. By identifying the exact meaning of each, the true meaning of the word is discerned.

Dr Jean-Marie Jullienne notes that mankind should understand that God’s uncreated energies are within them and are continually creating them. Every time they breathe, God is giving forth His Word in them.

It is the author's fervent prayer that, through such earnest contemplation, you, the reader, will come to an understanding of your true identity in God. Download this audiobook now · Email Solid Gold · For links to buy this book

  • Manifesting Motherness: Healing from Infertility | Rekha Ramcharan
What if infertility isn't a war but an awakening?

    Written by Rekha Ramcharan
    Narrated by the Author

The author had her first child at 45 but, while that may intrigue you, what will keep you listening is the path that took her from infertility to 'motherness.

This is a unique audiobook about infertility which, on the surface, tells the autobiographical success story of a woman who had a baby naturally against all the medical odds after four years and countless disappointments.

At a deeper level, though, the audiobook explores the journey the author took from the first steps, in which she placed all her hope on physical infertility treatment, to her final understanding that the work she undertook on emotional, psychological, and spiritual levels was the true reason that she had achieved motherness.

Viewing infertility not as a scourge but an invitation - to consider her holistic health and balance on a multitude of dimensions - the audiobook explores the many ways in which the battle to have a child, a source of despair for an increasing number of women, may be a call to engage with awakening, expansion, and spiritual growth. If you're over 35 - or over 40 - this honest (and often funny) narrative about finding purpose in a heart-breaking and often private torment may be the best audiobook you'll listen on the subject.
