Aunty Sochelle Hour-ish

If you were around in the 1970s and watched any television of any kind- especially the comedic game shows that often made headlines- then you certainly know Barb North, (as well as her lovely husband Steve). Her sharp wit and comedic timing helped shape the comedic landscape. Barb also served as a booking agent, well-trusted by comedians across the United States, placing up-and-coming talent into clubs, ensuring so many of them would be adored by the public. She is, to this day, a star maker. But, with all her decades in the industry, she is FINALLY walking back into the spotlight herself. You can find Barb along with luminaries like Carole Montgomery, on stages alongside the stars she helped create. And she is fabulous! Check out this conversation that does nothing else but proves that age is just a number and comedy is timeless!

He is practically fluid as he seems to float items above his head. There is a symmetry and poetry in his movement that could be mistaken for ballet. In fact, here is a man who is as wise in comedy as he is in the physics of juggling. That man is Michael Rayner. You have seen him in countless television shows, including That 70s Show, America's Got Talent, and even ESPN network shows. He has the face of the "every man", allowing him to blend seamlessly into commercials. But I assure you, this humble talent is far from ordinary. Join Aunty as she talks entertainment with the one and only, Michael Rayner.

This week's a wandering tale of a good man doing good things for the good of theater. An editor leaves the world of publishing and his home city of New York to launch a theater career in his wife's homeland of Czechoslovakia. Sound like a movie? How about a play? See how Brain Callaghan brings words alive nightly at his theater in Prague. Make sure you visit the Prague Harman Street Theatre when you are in that city! This lively interview is both inspiring and downright fun. Got a dream? Make it happen!

If you are a fan of B-movie horror, or love Fangoria, or enjoy being scared in a creepy silly way, you are surely going to enjoy this interview with super talented practical effects guru Joe Castro! Joe has been a professional fx artist since he was a teen-ager in Texas. This artist started networking before anyone else knew what that was, and was able to get some of the coolest art into some of the biggest cult classics. Hey gang..what happens when two artsy ADHD women who have a common love of language, music, and creating come together to talk about art, music, and language? You get Aunty Sochelle chatting with her Parasocial Pal, Jen "JenX" Rizio. Jen is a polyglot with a passion for Welsh. She, much like Aunty Sochelle herself, is a dragon slayer of hidden disability. Her video channel discusses her creativity as a power from her Autism. The talk this week isn't just about talking and language, it's about not taking people for granted because we don't "look" a certain way. Jen is a music producer, artist, comic writer, and youtuber. Reminder- people around you every day are people who do extraordinary things under difficult circumstances, and do it really, really well. See if you don't laugh along as to ADHD adult women try to stay on topic for at least 30 seconds.

Meeting Sara Tomko and TJ Pederson is like meeting your long-lost best school friends. The multi-talented Tomko sings like a Grammy winner, is breathtakingly beautiful, and still maintains that girl-next-door vibe that won over so many of her fans in the hit sci-fi-comedy show Resident Alien. Not only did she steal scenes from Alan Tudyk, but she held that show together like glue and macaroni on a kid's kindergarten project. Her other half, the equally talented director and actor TJ Pederson has a sharp wit, an infectious grin and has worked side-by-side with Tomko in setting up their film company. We didn't speak with Jon Lile during this interview, but when I say his imagery is nothing short of Louvre worthy, I earnestly hold that opinion of his use of camera. This tri-force team is about to wow audiences with their films and certainly blew my mind with their horror short: Girls, Girls, Girls. Am I fawning? You bet I am!! I can't wait for their upcoming new piece starring Felicia Day entitled Soup, and their current production, It Came for Clara. Check out our chat and see if you don't fall hopelessly excited for them!

A few months back, we spoke with Houston Community College Professor Dr. Kent McGaughy on the issues with the current state of government and ways we can help change it. This time, we discuss freedom and fascism in the country, and how we can stop something that apparently has already begun. Dr. Kent has kindly offered his expertise in Constitutional history and the reasons why some of the articles exist. Don't lose hope. Remember, the autocracy and authoritarians work exactly the same way throughout history. KNOW what to look for, and know how to fight back, peaceably.

Dennis Blair is one of those incredible artists who not only writes and sings his own music, but can mimic everyone from Eddie Vedder to Ray Charles to ...well if someone sings it...he can certainly echo tone, pitch and cadence to a T. But that's not his only skill. Dennis is so revered by other comedians and musicians he has made a career of being the appetizer to the fine dining of Jackie Mason, Rodney Dangerfield, Gloria Estefan, the legendary George Carlin, and recently, the Fan-ilows are cheering him on as Barry Manilow's opener. And why not? His warmth, goofiness, intelligence and talents just make those for whom he has opened glow even brighter. Join Aunty's longtime friend as they discuss the dumb luck of the entertainment industry, family, and surviving the arts as a career.
