  • Harris Camp Details 4-Step Plan to Winning the White House

Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Democrat's presumptive nominee for president, and the campaign has come out with a memo detailing a four-step guide to how she can win the presidency.

The plan includes consolidating the base with strong outreach to Black, Latino, Asian American, Native American, and Hispanic Islander voters. They say Harris has a 44 net approval rating among Black voters and leads Trump by 54 points. She's also significantly ahead among young voters by 25 points.

Step two is expanding the coalition. They're not stopping at just holding the base, but also targeting voters who have shifted towards Democrats since 2020. That includes white, college-educated voters and voters over 65.

Step three: mobilizing the undecided. The campaign recognizes that about 7 percent of voters are still undecided. They are disproportionately Black, Latino, and under 30.

The last step is focusing in on key states. The campaign is targeting the blue wall states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, as well as Sunbelt states like North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada.

  • GOP Criticizes Kamala Harris' Presidential Bid, Sparking Backlash Over Racial Remarks

Less than a day after Vice President Kamala Harris announced her presidential bid, some Republicans targeted her race in their critiques. Tennessee Republican Rep. Tim Burchett, in a CNN interview, asserted that President Joe Biden chose Harris as his running mate solely because she is Black, calling her "a DEI hire" and disparaging her record.

The remarks prompted immediate backlash, with many condemning them as perpetuating racist stereotypes about Black women.

Harris's qualifications are substantial, with a career spanning over two decades as a prosecutor, her tenure as San Francisco's district attorney, and later California's attorney general. She then made history as California's first Black and South Asian U.S. senator before being elected vice president in 2020.

  • The Harris-Biden Ticket Is Now in Full Play

In her first campaign appearance, Vice President Kamala Harris came out swinging at the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump, saying she would put her record against his at any time.

"You know, as many of you know, before I was elected as Vice President, before I was elected as United States Senator, I was the elected Attorney General, as I've mentioned, of California. Before that, I was a courtroom prosecutor. In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds — predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So hear me when I say I know Donald Trump's type."

The vice president travels to Milwaukee for her first rally today under the now Harris-Biden ticket, after securing enough delegates to become the party's nominee for president.

Black women put out a call to Black women and they responded. On Sunday, it was to the tune of 40,000 women who gathered on a Zoom call to show support and rally behind Vice President Kamala Harris to become the Democratic presidential nominee after President Joe Biden said he would not run.

The call was moderated by one of the group's conveners, Jyothika Edy, and they raised $1.5 million in just three hours. • ActBlue Raises Nearly $47 Million in Hours After VP Harris Launches Presidential Campaign

Small-dollar donors contributed nearly $47 million on ActBlue in the seven hours after Vice President Harris launched her presidential campaign Sunday afternoon, the Democratic fundraising platform announced. This amount represents the total raised on the platform, not just donations to Harris's campaign.

President Biden announced on July 21 that he would be stepping aside in the presidential race, endorsing Harris. ActBlue also reported raising over $27.5 million in the first five hours of Harris's campaign.

The New York Times noted that Sunday was the largest day for online Democratic donations since the 2020 election, surpassing the previous record set the day after Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's death in September 2020, when ActBlue raised about $73.5 million.

Key Democratic donors are now backing Harris following Biden's decision.

  • Biden Bows Out, Back Harris; Will Democrats Rally Behind Harris to Counter Trump?

After much pressure, President Biden has stepped out of the 2024 presidential race, posting a statement on X, formerly Twitter, shortly after 2 p.m. on Sunday that said, "My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this."

Within 24 hours, the campaign brought in nearly $50 million from donors. Vice President Harris sent out a statement saying, "I am honored to have the President's endorsement, and my intention is to earn and win this nomination."

"I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party—and unite our nation—to defeat Donald Trump and his extreme Project 2025 agenda," the statement continued.

Although President Biden is publicly backing Harris, the decision is up to the delegates. The Democratic National Convention Executive Committee could hold a roll call to officially recognize Harris as their nominee, or take this to an open convention — a move that hasn't been done in decades.
