Isaiah Hand, a senior from Tallahassee, Florida, has earned his private pilot license at Moton Field — the first Tuskegee student to do so in nearly 80 years. The achievement comes as Tuskegee relaunches its four-year Aviation Science degree program, with nearly 50 students now enrolled. The accomplishment recalls the university’s historic legacy in flight training and opens new doors for the next generation of aviation professionals.

Utah prosecutors are seeking the death penalty against Tyler Robinson, charged with assassinating conservative activist Charlie Kirk. The Georgia Supreme Court has rejected District Attorney Fani Willis’ appeal to remain on Donald Trump’s election interference case. Judges cited an appearance of impropriety linked to her romantic relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade. Trump’s attorney called her conduct “egregious.” Willis said she disagrees with the ruling but will turn over case files to Georgia’s Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council, which will decide who takes over. For now, one of the most consequential election cases remains in limbo.

A new survey from the Pew Research Center explores how Christians view faith and politics after the 2024 election. Most Americans said they do not believe God plays a role in U.S. elections. Just 4% said God chose President Donald Trump for his policies, while 32% said his election was part of God’s plan. Nearly half — 49% — said God does not get involved in elections, and 14% said they do not believe in God. Eighty percent of Christians said good Christians can disagree with Trump, while only 7% said supporting him is essential. The survey also found that most Americans say religion shapes how they vote very little or not at all.

President Donald Trump is once again threatening to federalize the Metropolitan Police Department after D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, D-D.C., refused cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Trump’s last emergency order put the city’s police under his command for 30 days, with more than 40% of arrests immigration-related. While Trump claims the surge reduced crime, Bowser says, “Immigration enforcement is not what the MPD does. And with the end of the emergency, it won’t be what MPD does in the future.” Congress is also considering bills that would weaken D.C.’s Home Rule.

Actor Tramell Tillman has made Emmy history as the first Black man to win outstanding supporting actor in a drama series for his role in Apple TV+’s “Severance.” The award, given at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, marks the last major acting category at the Emmys to finally recognize a Black performer. Tillman, who is also openly gay, joins a groundbreaking legacy that includes Viola Davis and Billy Porter. At 40, he is emerging as a rising star with blockbuster film credits and upcoming roles in “Good Sex” and “Spider-Man: Brand New Day.”
