Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, is expected to enter a guilty plea on Wednesday for tax-related offenses and to acknowledge possession of a firearm while being considered an unlawful user or addict of a controlled substance. The plea deal was negotiated with the Justice Department.
According to a Delaware court filing dated June 20, 2023, the charges against Hunter Biden include two counts of willful failure to pay federal income tax and one count of possession of a firearm by an individual who is an unlawful user or addicted to a controlled substance.
The plea deal reached between Hunter Biden's legal team and the prosecutors includes a recommendation of two years of probation.
The case is being overseen by U.S. District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump in December 2017. Judge Noreika is responsible for reviewing and approving the terms of the plea deal before it is finalized.

In a landmark ruling Tuesday, U.S. District Judge John S. Tigar put a hold on a Biden administration rule that sought to restrict asylum applications. The rule, criticized by migrant rights groups, requires migrants to apply for asylum online before reaching the U.S.-Mexico border or to first seek protection in the country they passed through.
The judge delayed the implementation of the ruling to allow the Biden administration to appeal.
Advocates hailed the judge's decision, arguing that the rule contravened U.S. law guaranteeing the right to asylum regardless of entry method. They cited the inadequate capacity of the government's CBP One app and concerns about migrants' safety in transit countries like Mexico.
The administration, justifying the rule, highlighted that migrants should still access protection in other countries and via other pathways, like the CBP One app.
The judge noted the app's appointments were far exceeded by demand, leaving many asylum seekers stranded in potentially dangerous situations.

In a maze of justice, how many secrets lie hidden? Well, today, court documents reveal that eight search warrants and affidavits were filed in the federal case against former President Donald Trump for mishandling classified documents.
Prosecutors are keeping the content, locations, and devices targeted by these warrants under wraps. So how far does the rabbit hole go?
Recently unsealed motions tied to media outlets' attempts to gain information about last year's search warrant served at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence revealed additional search warrants and affidavits.
Details of seven of these warrants remain a mystery, and they don't necessarily imply seven separate physical locations were searched.
These additional warrants could encompass storage facilities, other parts of Mar-a-Lago, digital devices, or online accounts.
The documents were revealed to the legal teams representing Trump and his aide, Walt Nauta, who have both been charged.
Trump faces 37 counts for willfully retaining national defense information, conspiring to obstruct justice, and making false statements. Nauta faces six felony counts for allegations of assisting Trump in hiding national security files.

On the day marking what would've been Emmett Till's 82nd birthday, President Biden is signing a historic proclamation establishing the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument spread across significant sites in Illinois and Mississippi.
The national monument honors both Emmett Till's short life ended by racial violence and his mother Mamie Till-Mobley's unwavering activism.
The new monument encompasses three poignant locations: Graball Landing near Glendora, Mississippi, where Till's body was recovered; Chicago's Roberts Temple Church of God, the site of Till's high profile, open casket funeral; and the Tallahatchie County Second District Courthouse in Sumner, Mississippi, where Till's murderers were acquitted.
The designation signifies a crucial step in confronting our nation's racial past and fostering understanding, serving as a grim reminder of the Jim Crow era and Emmett Till's story igniting the Civil Rights Movement.

The pressure is on as UPS and the Teamsters union gear up for critical contract talks on Tuesday. At stake are the wages of around 100,000 part-time workers who keep UPS' massive operation ticking.
But it's not just about part-time wages, the details of full-time employees, the faces you see at your doorstep delivering packages day in and day out, remain veiled.
Already, the corporate logistics giant has confirmed a conversion of Tuesday to Saturday workers to full-time status. Yet many major terms are still up in the air. As the clock ticks, the economy braces for possible tremors.
Anderson Economic Group predicts that a 10-day strike could inflict a whopping $7 billion blow to the economy with workers, customers, and UPS itself feeling the sting.

Las Vegas police confirmed that they have served a search warrant in connection with the 27-year unsolved murder of Tupac Shakur, propelling the case back into the spotlight.
Shakur was one of the most prolific figures in hip-hop of all time. When he was gunned down the night of September 7, 1996, in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, he was only 25 years old. No arrests have ever been made. But the case, which has seen its share of conspiracy theories, has endured for decades.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that the search was conducted in the nearby city of Henderson, but the agency did not say whether a suspect had been identified. It's also unclear what they were looking for and where they were actually looking. But here's the good news: Nevada does not have a time limit for prosecuting homicide cases.
As you recall, Shakur was shot while sitting inside a black BMW with Marion "Suge" Knight, head of Death Row Records. Police have said the two were waiting at a red light near the Las Vegas strip when a white Cadillac pulled up next to them and gunfire erupted. He was shot multiple times, rushed to the hospital, and Tupac died six days later. The Las Vegas police have said in the past that the investigation quickly stalled, in part because witnesses refused to cooperate.
I don't know if that has changed now, but all I can say, in the words of Lizzo, it's about damn time.
Well, just so you know, you can see me in "Dear Mama," which is the latest Tupac documentary series. It's airing on Hulu and they're doing pretty well with it. Just got an Emmy nomination.
