How do you vote in an election? Well! Here's a 7 step guide from finding a polling place, to how to fill in a ballot for the House of Representatives and the Senate, and why the two are different. I'll also explain the basics of preferential voting - so you know how your vote works, why you should vote for who you want to, and how you can't throw your vote away!

What are the differences between the minor parties? If you're considering voting for a minor party, which one? While there are many, I've chosen to compare Adam Bandt's voting record with Pauline Hanson's and Craig Kelly's to show you the difference between a left wing and right wing minor party voting record, and also show you how you can learn more information about members of parliament and what they've stood for! What's the difference between Scott Morrison and Anthony Albanese? Who should you vote for out of Labor or Liberal in the 2022 federal election? I'll compare their voting records to demonstrate what the two major parties have voted for in the past so you can see what they stand for, not just what they say they'll do. While there are plenty of similarities between the major parties (they do want to appeal to as many people as possible after all) there are some differences. This one's really important for helping people figure out who they want to vote for - so if it helped you, share it around! Though do note: this is just about their previous voting record - and won't necessarily be an exact reflection of their election policies, but will help you frame them in context with their track record.

This is your chance to change the future.

If you can't get to the polls on election day then good news! You can vote early in multiple ways, including postal voting. This is a handy guide to teach you how to apply for a postal vote, what you need to know about filling it in, and when it needs to be returned by. This is super helpful if you are travelling or need to isolate on election day. If you don't apply in time there's also telephone voting.  And remember: an election is coming soon!

How do you enrol to vote? Simple. Go to https://aec.gov.au/enrol to do it online or get a paper form and mail/scan it.  

This episode will guide you through the steps for enrolling to vote both online and offline for those who just want to know the specifics without hearing me talk about eligibility, or why it's important.
