The ACT Parliament is unique in Australia in that it doubles for local government - instead of having a separate elected body. I sat down with an ACT MP to ask a bunch of questions - from how the parliament balances the roles of being a local councillor with the same responsibility of a state MP, to how the government functions when no single party has enough seats to be in charge by itself, and more!

What are the laws protecting and restricting freedom of speech in Australia? From defamation, trying to ban the communist party, the racial discrimination act, 90s High Court cases, television broadcast regulations, to government secrecy laws - I dive into the broad and often misunderstood topic of freedom of speech in Australia. There's a lot to say! First off: we don't have a 1st amendment ensuring freedom of speech as a constitutional right. That's an American thing.
